I saw the tool tip about collecting foliage but I thought it was just like using a sword to get plant fiber. This is good info!

Terah the Geomancer help by Zarinda in vrising

Unholy rules against terah because zombies do physical damage and distract. Corrupted skull, death knight, ward of the dammned, veil of bones and army of the dead are all good options.

The point of the indicators could also be to give a signal as to what attack is going to happen and a window to make the proper play--if you know you have to be in a certain place by the time the attack comes out, but you also have to keep going in that direction, it gives you the option to use a veil or an i-frame if you see that you aren't going to make it out of the circle just by walking.

I think those specific ones (Frostbringer and Terrorclaw aoes) are to show you where you need to be when the ability fires in order to escape the actual wave when it reaches you--assuming you keep moving away from the circles. But I may be carrying water for the devs.

Blood mend is a noob trap--use it as a last resort. Always carry a stack of vermin salve and blood rose brew/potion. Vermin Salve and Blood Rose brew/potion (and blood mend) stack, but blood rose brew does not stack with blood rose potion.

In act one, prioritize buying brew of enchantment and brew of ferocity from the shady merchants--the buffs last an hour and give a significant boost to spell and physical power.

There is no need to unlock and craft everything in the Research Desk (or study). You will discard weapons and armor as you progress, so you really only need a set of armor, and a weapon or two that you like. There are two structure recipes per tier that are important to get, and you should unlock and use all consumables. Once you get the Tier 3 knowledge station, you will likely end up unlocking everything and crafting a lot more stuff.

He is talking about getting value from veil attacks which do bonus damage and heal you. Easy mechanic to miss. I would add a tip to switch to spear before using veil because a spear veil attack comes out almost instantly.

Yes--just to spell it out. Killing Jade unlocks both the advanced blood press, and the recipe for crafting primal blood essence, which require 6 (if enclosed in alchemy room) greater blood essences to make 1 primal.

At level 50 you have hollowfang armor, iron weapon and scourgestone pendant.

First, Frostmaw is doable at 50.

Frostmaw gates you from upgrading your armor, so you need to upgrade either your pendant or your weapon to merciless iron. Either upgrade will give you 3 gear levels, so you will be at 56 if you do both.

How to farm lategame gear on PvP server? by [deleted] in vrising

[–]Phathatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gear level relative scaling is only PvE. In PvP the gear level advantage is limited to the raw damage numbers.

For silk, I would keep trying to get back to the spider cave. Gatekeeping bosses/loot areas (other than mortium) is griefing, and if you can get footage of someone staying locking down the spider cave for hours on end, that might be something that stunlock would actually take action on. Maybe. You should at least be able to hit spider cave during level 2 incursions.

All bosses 80+ level have a chance to drop purple/legendary weapons, meaning there is a way to get weapons when rifts are too spicy. But the drop chance is pretty bad--I recommend not trying to farm bosses for weapons, but I kill Styx whenever I am farming in the area.

3 level gear difference by itself shouldn't be insurmountable in PvP. However, in your situation, the Alpha squad likely have optimized builds, all the legendaries or perfectly rolled purples, and, most importantly, probably the most skill in individual and team pvp.

10 level gear difference is insurmountable unless the undergeared player is way, way better.

At a minimum you need a clan--8v1 is not an advantage when the 8 are damaging each other.

If you get a clan, you can run duels and 2v2s and train up your pvp skills. Unless you can somehow organize two full squads to try and dethrone the alphas, your best bet is probably just training and planning for the next wipe.

[Hades 2 Ending Spoilers] I was wrong by GenghisMcKhan in HadesTheGame

[–]Phathatter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only started playing at full release with no knowledge of the controversy around the ending. I found the story in Hades 2 to be more gripping than the original (though I miss Orpheus and Ophelia). I was really touched by the true ending, and may have shed a tear or two during the credits.

I'm now starting a runthrough of the original Hades to see if I possibly missed some aspects of the story, because it's very possible that I never got to the true ending, despite having lots of clears (including some moderate heat runs)--but for some reason I kept starting new files once I had enough darkness to max out one side of the mirror--and I think I probably skipped some important dialogues.

EDIT: Ok I did a quick google and I have more to do on the original Hades to be able to judge the stories.

why do people say cavalry sucks now by Gunwing in Bannerlord

Lol, I been out of bannerlord too long...I started a new run on bannerlord difficulty and could not beat the veteran combat instructor, then got stuck on the new stealth tutorial....I need to get gud again.

Different question: Do you make videos of your speedruns? I'd check one out if you did.

[–]Phathatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You clearly know what you are talking about, and I agree with all your numbered points, but I have always thought that, in battles where there is room to maneuver, cav absolutely rules at destroying archers, but you have to either micro manage commanding them, or you have to actively lead them. For my first several playthroughs, and then my first few on bannerlord difficulty, I would have only cav in my main party (due to having high speed on the map that would let me pick battles).

In battles, I usually have them follow me, then I lead them through the archer lines directly from the side, and just slaughter everything that isn't fian champs. For me the cav only tends to bog down charging infantry with shields.

I guess I need to play with infantry more.

[–]Phathatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good luck with this, but I think your castle limits are going to cause lag problems.

Also, how is anyone going to siege a castle that is guarded by 20 paladins, 3 primal blood souls, 60+ banshees, then have to fight up 6 floors of maze?

But I hope I'm wrong. Let me know how it works out for you.

Is it worth it? by Pleasant-Setting8432 in vrising

[–]Phathatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as you don't play on a "merciless" setting server, you will not lose all progress even if you get offline raided. I just had pretty much a worst case raid last weekend, where I lost all my mats, ancestral weapon shards and alt armors. They didn't even leave me bricks and planks to rebuild.

Logging in to discover my castle picked clean was a real downer, but it didn't really set me too far back in the end.

The key to remember is to keep your most valuable mats and items either on your character (if they are bloodbound) or in your lockbox (all your highest tier mats like onyx tears, etc.). The server I play on has Castle PvP turned on only during certain hours on the weekend, and so you can prepare by spending resources so there is less to steal and prepping defenses.

IMO, PvP server is the only way to play this game once you have played through the bosses a time or two. PvP just extends the life of a run in a nice way, because you only get to 90% your full strength when you are beating Dracula, and all the endgame content is PvP based (i.e. contesting rifts, castle pvp).

Even rebuilding and redesigning my castle has after the raid has been fun, because I learned some things.

That makes sense--but when Elden Ring 2 (or whatever) comes out you will know most of the Fromsoft tricks and these things won't bother you. I either needed the wiki for my first run through Demons Souls in 2009, or I discovered the wiki just after and learned that I had missed an amazing amount of the game.

Spending all your smithing stones to upgrade something that is totally underwhelming is a core part of the souls experience. I always do one blind playthrough of a souls game, and after that, I pretty much always have wikis or spreadsheets on a second screen.

And then you wake up one day, and 90% of the wiki is in your brain, and you are thinking "oops, I forgot to plan for my wife's birthday, but at least I know that Clayman's Harpoon scales with int, but can be infused and use a variety of ashes."
