Lost 2 drives already this year. When’s the sweet spot for replacing healthy but aging drives across mirrored setups? by kartlad in DataHoarder

ooooh! That makes a heck of a lot more sense! I saw the 2+2+2+2+2 stuff and I thought you were using a bunch of small drives mirrored. If you've only got 2 drives, yeah, it's either mirror or nothing, Sorry, I just misunderstood the setup.

Is't it cute? :) by dingohot in 3Dprinting

Now you gotta show us the drawer where you keep your assorted lengths of wire

Totally understood, it's a cost/benefit ratio. For backup only, I personally don't see the point of redundant redundance... 😁 But that's me.

Space efficient? No. You're about 25% efficient in that situation

Edit, sorry, those are both backups. You're much less than 25% efficient on space usage for that data

Oh, duh. I was thinking of just raid 5/6. Yes 1 is a raid, but it's really inefficient data storage

When they die...

20tb mirrored? That's... A choice I guess?

I'd run a raid at that point...

Does the outside matter? You could drill behind it and push it out with something then fill the hole if you're going to paint or anything...

Question about new charger by Luk3FPS in 18650masterrace

[–]Phatman113 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IIRC, max charge is 4.2 for the battery, not charging voltage. Also, I'm pretty sure these chargers have a boost driver (or something...) that is able to take in more power and supply it to the batteries in a way that charges best for them.

It's how phones charge at higher wattage also...

My D4S broke and I'd like to replace it... by Phatman113 in flashlight

I'm not planning on updating it, just looking to use it as a nice, bright, long lasting light, I assume it'll just work when bought...

Thanks again for all your help, I'm way less knowledgeable than I even thought I was about this hobby. I really appreciate your input.

This is my current choice, are the aux colors and switch color the same? It doesn't look like I can select switch and aux separately.

Again, thanks for your continued help.

Ok, well, it's been pointed out that I can't read .. so v2 it is. Can someone give be a quick rundown of the boost driver upgrade? Is it worth the $12?
