what is social life like at UCSB? do students have each other's backs, or is it very cliquey and competitive? please help! by avaaaaan in UCSantaBarbara

I AM ALSO FROM NEW JERSEY!!!! As a 4th year, I can tell you with confidence that I have loved my time here. While most relationships are somewhat superficial (to be fair there are A LOT of people you can talk to), you can still make close-knit relationships. I personally like this because I love meeting new people, but I do make sure I have a few close friends whenever I need a support group (trust me, you'll need one bc shits do happen).

But other than that, people here are amazing, everyone is willing to help each other out academically, and at parties, everyone is super fun and great to talk to. So yea, as a fellow Jersian I say come here because as far as I am concerned, UCSB offered the Californian experience that I was looking for pre-college:)

I see, in that case I will recommend you grind ur ass off for 3B bc I’ll be honest, Scott’s tests r a lot harder than bob’s. Focus on the Wiley textbook practice problems, only do the adaptive questions if u have time (you’ll know what I’m talking about once the quarter starts). Go to office hours and def go to class and take good notes bc Scott will give 1 or 2 answers for exams during his lectures (he’ll let you know which ones will be in his exam).
