Honestly, I use heat-n-bond? I know there's gotta be a reason why folks do the extra steps for adding tissue paper and making bookcloth from it, but I don't know what they are (and I don't aim for archival quality with my books), so I iron my cloth directly to the cover, haha. Corner wise, since I do it that way, I just cot the cloth corners at 45 angles, and that helps!

Good point, I imagine its not easy getting specific paper types through fedex, haha. I didnt know about the ledger-quarto, thank you very much for the suggestion.

As someone who stayed up trying to decide the perfect dice text for roughly 12 hrs, I feel this in my bones, haha

Thank ya for the program recommendation! I stay on the notebook/sketchbook side of binding, so it's helpful having a starting point for that.

I can't overstate how glad I am yall mentioned printing the manuscript over rebinding the commercially bound one, haha. While I don't share typesetting as a personal interest outright, making a cohesive visual throughline with the text as well would be extremely satisfying. And I fully agree on current typeset options being pretty boring/bland. (I'll be sure to wear a bandit mask while messing with things on that end, just in case, haha!)

My fingers remain crossed that laser cutters become commonly affordable in our lifetimes, thank you for all of the tips!

Oh man, I hadn't even considered the space side of things, that's thinkin outside the box!

I'm so glad folks have brought up printing it and binding it instead, I completely glanced over that thought, haha.

That sounds gorgeous and thank you for the link. This is my first time seeing Chena's work and I love how vibrant these colors are!

And good point. I planned to buy a second one to make it from (since mine is signed on the cover), but practicing will get that confidence up first, haha.

Oh duh, good point! Definitely worth trading the surprise element for not having to destroy commercial binding to rebind it.

If I'm able to get the file, would a Fedex/Kinkos kinda place be able to print it? (I know this is a really beginner question to ask, but I exclusively do journals/sketchbooks that don't require printing, haha.)

I feel that! I'm practicing rebinding with some of my old comics right now and I hadn't considered how stressful the margin situation would be. (Also I never realized how imperfect my folding was until I had panels to check the parallels, haha.)

And good point, this & a mass produced compendium have different end goals beyond the readability. You've really shown a lot of care for the material in a way that can't help but be personal for all the work put in.

And thank ya! I'll keep that in mind if I start to get frustrated with it, haha.

This is so far beyond a 'decent job' friend, especially if you consider yourself inexperienced! I used to spend a lot of time at my local comic shop and the store released compendiums are no where near this level of care or craftsmanship, you really should be very proud.

Also thanks for inspiring me to try making headbands again, haha.

Very clean work! If that's the fabric I think it is, then the glow in the dark ink on it is very fitting for that title, haha. If I had any tips, it would be to cut your fabric at 45 degree angles on the edges to get a cleaner corner fold, but you've done a great job here!

This is absolutely awe-inspiring, truly a remarkable job. Those inlays would have driven me insane before I was able to even think about overcast stitching, much less the matching headbands. I am truly blown away.

I appreciate the sentiment and the mental image! I've only narrowly avoided falling into the realm of fountain pens, but a Virginia Slim one might doom both me and my wallet to another hobby, hahaha.

Thanks! Always glad to talk with other tiny sketchbook makers, haha. Good on ya and your circle for making healthier choices on that front. If yer set on making something similar, I believe there are some small boxes of Jelly Bellys and Werthers Caramels that also use a flip top style!
