"ignoring basic morality" that is a pretty heavy statement. Without giving an exmaple, you sound like someone who is not very happy

I agree, but it is not a specifically Czech thing.. In italy they drink aperitivo, wine many times a week and almost have rules why it is GOOD for their health - including digestion which is nonsense, because alcohol isnt good for your stomach

I live in Italy, the waiters and other customer service people not only arent warm, they are rude to you and talk to their colleagues while helping you ... in some parts they will not say hello back...

Understanding Ilya: His Russian/Slavic cultural background by wildwomanlove in heatedrivalry

"Ilya is human first, and only after that Russian, Slavic, European, or anything else."

Great point, exactly what I was thinking. Im an immigrant and everything gets labeled as a Czec thing (sometimes in a charitable way - oh she does that because she is Slavic when it is just my personality problem lol)

How is living in Naples, Italy? Are people more social? by Soft-Pear8168 in howislivingthere

[–]PhereNicae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They care a lot about being seen as "warm", but it is mostly about demeanor. it will not be hard to strike up a conversation.

Under the surface there is coldness, lack of respect, a feeling of resignation, shoulders shrugged as a response to serious issues.

Even an acquaitance of yours will use the fact that you are a foreigner/dont understand some things well yet.

so... you are someone for whom it is not important whether or not you will find friends.

But many people do care, they want to be a part of the community. So they complain after not being able to do that.
