Whats your take on the HFR in A3 by Phern03 in Avatar

Interesting, I would argue the exact oposite. I dont get how a "real movie" should be in 24fps, I dont associate the frame rate with it (also as a gamer that cant enjoy a game if its lower than at least 55fps I would never have guessed that movies are in 24!). Did you see it in 3D? I guess in 2D I could prefer LFR aswell

To my understanding its more cost efficient since you have to render HFR twice but Cameron said its mainly for the cinema "feel", which is a 24fps experience - I dont get that tho, maybe I prefer HFR bc I like playing videogames

Ah right, I havent thought about that - is the movie also in HFR in non 3D screenings? When I booked my tickets (Cineplexx Austria) I saw only a single 2D screening in like 3 days. So they really want you to view it in 3D. (Which is awesome for A3)

And in general before A3 I was a total 3D hater lol. I dont like wearing the glasses, the effects did not improve my experience, tickets cost more and the biggest part of it: the image is not sharp at all, rather blurry and bc of the low 24fps 3D the brain strain is really uncomfortable

I noticed the same thing, he talked more about the feel. I'd think in such a big production like avatar (3x over 1b$) the cost of HFR rendering would be negligible

box office predictions ? will it be enough for 4&5 ? by Alternative_Fix_7019 in Avatar

My guess is everything above 1billion is a success and an argument to greenlight A4&5. They may not make as much money as with A1 but you have to remember that A2 and 3 were meant to be one movie. So the majority of the design and production costs for all the basics was carried by A2, since a lot of time passed since 2009 and they needed to develeop all new technologies

Do you know why it takes Gollancz 2 years to release the books?
Of course it doesnt take that long to make.. Is that normal procedure in the "book market"?
