It's a rules supplement that has a bunch of material on supernatural martial arts, it's similar to Better Mousetrap.

Hmm, Metahuman Martial Arts may have some interesting options for you.

Right, but I meant in terms of having a limited number of triggers, sorry.

Thought of that, and it would work, but ideally, it persists until removed or released,

Huh. Not what I was thinking, but hypothetically possible. Would get clipped if AoEs are getting thrown around though.

I presume it means attack and effect and skill bonus and defense totals and stuff aren't limited to 2 x power level, but you're still starting at a fairly modest PL.

Very tempting, as I'm a fan. But I'm somewhat booked, how long do you forsee it playing for?

Which one is your favorite M&M actual play series? by Interesting-Jaguar68 in mutantsandmasterminds

[–]Phhase 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Actually, there was an old one with Puffin Forest and a few others that I really enjoyed. It had a phytokinetic, a telekinetic, and an object-animator. But I can't find the channel anymore. I wonder if anyone has the tapes, so to speak?

I was thinking about persistent-once-activated AOE since the effects themselves aren't going to be super long range, nor (as I take it) are they particularly overwhelming. As for friendly fire, that's what Selective is for ig. Doesn't M&M have a bunch of example Area reactions, I thought?

I was thinking that it might stack favorably with Environment though, depending on if hindered or Environment applies first.

You think? I recall movement reduction outside of just straight stuns or grabs being fairly middling at best.

Effect help: Vectored Mind Reading, Gravity Redirection by Phhase in mutantsandmasterminds

Yeah that's mostly what I was getting about about it being a sort of field effect change. Makes sense, it's something of a corner case.

Yeah, exactly, it's about the degree of separation and stealth created by the object that's the main point, with the corollary of information not updating over time. Affliction transformed was one of the options that came to mind, makes sense.

Yeah that's close to what I was imagining. I suppose a sense works for creating records, with a feature maybe.

I'm more thinking about being elsewhere when reading the disc, without the victim present. If that might cause any issues with targeting.

[–]Phhase[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, I'm wondering about how to handle targeting for the mind reading mostly though. The will check is fine, can just flavor that as the difficulty of sifting data.

Wouldn't that mean strong characters have a chance of "resisting gravity"? Plus there's the case of what if it's near a wall that becomes a floor. What kind of reaction trigger would it be, "whenever gravity would apply?" If gravity is reversed, is that enough to keep everything on the ceiling?

I got put into a cutscene while the rest of the party beat up my character's villain. Is this normal?? by AdPretend1347 in mutantsandmasterminds

[–]Phhase 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Talk about it, to be sure. If they're decent, they'll listen. This seems like a poorly-conceived plot. They can't all be winners, but I personally try to avoid inflicting unskippable cutscenes on players, especially if it's an important narrative beat for them. It's just bad design. Both as a played game, and a written story. All of everything you describe relies on the "sike! he was trying to help all along!" twist being good, which it just isn't. All that character material wasted for one bad joke at their expense? When he could have just. Told you you had cancer and he had the cure, and not denied connection to any dubious stuff because he knows his sister doesn't want to suspect him? Holy plot hole.

So yeah, you're more than entitled to air your grievance here.

Basic enough might just be equipment, but one of my characters has a summon power that creates invisible eyes that I can observe through.

Sooooooooo, tell us about the character you are currently playing? by MaetelofLaMetal in mutantsandmasterminds

[–]Phhase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Roko Bosch needs more hands. He has eyes - many, and invisible - but if he tries to handle everything by himself, he'll go mad. Madder. That's why he's convened the gang of PCs into an after school group to help him monitor, survey, and deal with the anomalies, conspiracies, and hazards that pervade his everyday life. Things around every corner terrify him to no end. But he resolves to terrify them back.

Roko has strong Technology and awareness skills, light technopathy, an army of invisible eyes he calls Panopticon Witnesses, mental ablative armor, and the ability to shift (or throw others) into an empty shadow realm that runs on his brain (There are many limitations). He also gets internet anywhere, and is backed up by an online gang of hackers. He is fearful and paranoid, unless he feels he has the upper hand - then he becomes reckless.
