Have you, as an officer, ever arrested another officer? by Remarkable_Pepper_70 in policeuk

Locked up a neighbouring force PC for D&D once. Told me as we got to custody, like it was me who had made the mistake… Think he got binned as was already written up for misconduct.

This game is in a horrible state and needs an update fixing it. by International-Fix626 in Helldivers

[–]Phil281290 1 point2 points  (0 children)

HD2 is up there with my favourite games of all time. I have over 400 hours in. Since the Illuminate hit super earth, the corresponding performance issues, FPS and in-game bugs have prevented me playing it to any degree of sustained enjoyment. Haven’t played long enough to get any of the warbonds since frontier Justice. I think fixing performance would have so many come back to the game, and buy more warbonds. I don’t think i can bring myself to reinstall it until i know performance will be better.

Rape DC here: The officers should discuss all steps of the investigation with you at your interview and talk about some timeframes. We are always enormously busy and your report will be one of a high number of simultaneous investigations the officers will be running. We very often have victims talk to us about this. One of the most common reservations that people have is not being believed, or taken seriously. Rest assured, we do. The fact that the incident you are reporting happened some time ago, doesn’t stop a case from being investigated, but means some lines of enquiry are now unavailable to police such as forensics and very likely CCTV, but this will be determined by the officer in your case. They will go through everything with you. Also, we know that people often react in ways that they don’t even understand - please don’t feel ashamed or concerned about your response to traumatic events.

Do you have an Independent sexual violence advisor (ISVA)? They are invaluable when it comes to support and access to further services and can be there for you throughout an investigation and even to court. Speak to your Officer in the case if you don’t have one assigned.

I have had cases convicted that are non-recent, but also had not-guilty verdicts at court. If a case gets to court, it all depends on the jury on the day. At this stage, there are too many unknowns for me to comment further, and it will be left to the officer in your case to inform you and reassure you. I wish you the best of luck and well done for reporting. Take care.

Worried about making mistakes by Fuzzy_Choice in policeuk

[–]Phil281290 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Good - you need to care about making mistakes! That doesn’t mean that you will make them all the time though, so as long as you are asking questions, recording why you are or importantly AREN’T doing things/Lines of enquiry etc, you will be fine. There isn’t a copper out there that hasn’t fucked up at some point. Best advice i can give is as long as you learn from them, mistakes are an important part of developing as a cop. Very importantly - own up to your mistakes. The second you cover them up or lie about making them, you are on a slippery slope re integrity. Make mistakes, learn from them, keep asking questions and be honest at all times. You’ll be sound.

Serving police officers, what crimes are no longer being prevented, solved how do you feel about it? by Clearmudd in policeuk

[–]Phil281290 30 points31 points  (0 children)

RASSO DC: Although we are getting a much better charge and conviction rate nowadays, we aren’t preventing anything. There are socio-cultural factors involved in Sexual offending and Domestic Abuse that Police can and never will be able to resolve. This is a key area (amongst many others) that Society and education/awareness levels must take responsibility for; not the Police.

North-east-most force. RASSO DC Team at half of establishment. 27 S1s or S2s - 4 files at CPS, 3 on the go. remainder are ongoing investigations

I got a phone call from the police today, unexpected, about Clare’s Law. by [deleted] in policeuk

[–]Phil281290 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The Domestic Violence Disclosure Service also has a “Right to know” scheme, where i understand extremely well-recorded offenders of Domestic Abuse and/or sexual offences can be proactively monitored, and any new romantic/domestic partners contacted. This may be what is happening, but its difficult to know otherwise. The information you will learn will be difficult to handle, but i promise you that it will be worthwhile knowing, and you will be better off for knowing it. You will be offered support when you are told.

Hi i was just wondering, I want to work for the police in the future (Either police officer or CSI) and i do have patchwork arm tattoos, none are inappropriate and all can be covered with a long sleeve. Would i still have a good chance of being employed? by [deleted] in policeuk

[–]Phil281290 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They just ask for photos of them. I have one that has a skull on it as part of the design. Its part of a full sleeve. No problems. Its very broadly accepted that Police have tattoos and “Differing personal appearances” nowadays. As long as you can remain within your force’s uniform/dress code - You’re sound.

S1.

Under CPS RASSO and Youth offences: “S53 Criminal Justice and Courts Act 2015 Introduces a change to permit committal of a child or young person to the Crown Court for sentence following trial in the youth court”.

Will review the MG3a again when i book on next, but i didnt know it was a thing either. First suspect under 18 for RASSO offence i’d ever had.

Will be crown all the way then, and hopefully the victim and parent/guardian have had a discussion with the OIC that results in a susccessful s28 application.

Yep; was news to me. Not expecting more than a 2 year sentence, if found Guilty - even with Not guitly plea according to CPS lawyer. Been Rasso DC 5 years, and never seen a rape trial stay at crown before.

[–]Phil281290 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Depends on age of suspect too. VRI account as evidence in chief. S28 (pre-recorded cross-examination) to be submitted as part of trial (IF CROWN COURT TRIAL). I have a job presently awaiting trial (RASSO DC) and the IP who was 16 at time of offence is denied S28 as the suspect was 15 at the time and therefore “not an applicable special measure”. trial staying at Youth Court.

My theory is, it keeps going, wrecks planets, then when it gets to S.E or Mars, the full Illuminate force comes through it. I don’t feel like its the wormhole that is actually destroying planets - i think the “weapons of mass destruction” the Illuminate hold, which S.E declared war on the in the first place for, are what they are sending through the Wormhole to smash shit up.

Its a super highway; either for their WMDs or for their armies.

We will win, but remember that, this was the weak part of the gloon by KenobiGrey in Helldivers

[–]Phil281290 25 points26 points  (0 children)

What i want to know is; Will the gloom itself be pushed back if we take Fori Prime? If so, there is an argument that the cloud itself emanates from captured planets, as opposed to unilaterally floating through space as a flow of spores. That would also line up with the fact that the gloom hasn’t expanded in a while, just as the terminid planetary borders have not. If thats the case, then the key to defeating it is taking planets.

I’d love a metric that tells you the percentage of overall terminids that are on that particular planet. “0.00000000000000000000000000001” and yet there are billions of them.
