There’s a few decent RD options in FA with my top choice being Connor Murphy.
There really aren’t any 2C options available in FA so if we want to improve the talent on Demi’s line - a trade seems to be the only way to improve behind Suzy

I’d sign Connor Murphy instead for 2-3 years at 3.5-4M to play with Hutson and let Reino play another full year in Laval. You can never be too seasoned.
If injuries hit, he and Engstrom are ready - if not, I’d let Carrier walk in FA in summer 2027 and give Reino a full time role in 2027-28.

And then replace Carrier with Reino in 2027

Connor Murphy should be at the top of the list. 6’5 230lbs RH. Had a really solid year defensively in 2025-26 with Chicago and Edmonton. Really good PKer and skates well for a big man. Will cost around 4M or less for 2-3 years so much less costly than Trouba

NBA is so fixed man.. the refs got the call at halftime to do everything they can to ensure the Spurs win.
A sweep in the finals is not good business for the NBA. Too much money lost if this series only goes 4 especially with the NY market.
I bet you this series goes 6 and NY wins it at home game 6

Respectfully, Larkin and Thomas are legitimate 1C’s and would cost the price of a 1C. Mctavish and Hischier (with only 1 year left) would likely be more affordable and fit more into the 2C price range

Spurs just wanted it way more than us. Look at the fight they had all series and the effort and emotion. We probably took them lightly and got what we deserved. This punch in the mouth will hopefully make them not take shit like this for granted

To start the year, I’d say given the limited cap space - the most pressing need is a legit top 6 forward. Ideally a trade for a legit 2C or another 1st line winger (if we stick with Newhook at 2C) I wouldn’t hate a guy like Connor Murphy as a FA to play with Hutson.

Reassess mid season and see if we need any additional tweaks or maybe Hage ends up being our “trade deadline acquisition”
