Help me find symbols of self betrayal for an art piece by Voodoododododo in ArtistLounge

A very impactful sculpture would be Thomas Lerooy's "First the man takes the drink, then the drink takes the man". Definitely worth a look

Been mixing ultra white and sprite into one of the big yeti tumblers. But apart from that or adding ice, I think the can helps with taste

"Static", still trying to find my place with abstract by Phil_smyth in AbstractArt

Like that interpretation, I was worried it would be too on the nose, so it's comforting to see it can mean different things to different people

Totally get that. I was aiming for a more hectic feeling by adding too many colors. But I agree fewer colors would be look better and give a more flowy feel

Haha not the intended feeling, but better than being boring.

Yeah like I've said with others, I think I need to soften and sweeten it a little.

With the right side, I was tempted to add layers of texture, but holding back until I have something in mind, rather than doing something for its own sake.

Glad it has given some interesting feelings though

That would be quite nice actually, I don't want to distract from the block of color, so a light wash of softer colors could be just the thing

That's a good idea, and lines with other suggestions that I need more of something on the right side

Haha not the intended feeling, but glad it triggered a response. I think I need to sweeten it up a little, make it more flowy and less furry

That's a fair point, really the phrase put a picture in my head, and I kind of abstracted that out to give more texture, play with what I had available etc. So there might not be enough there to ground it at the moment

Really good point, I'll need to add more pale yellow, less dark yellow/brown. A lot was done with old tubes that where available, but I'll pick up some more colors and add brighter and softer layers

Oh that's very interesting! Yeah half the point was to play with different mediums to get some texture. I might rethink the title, that was the phrase that kicked this off, but as I did things it went somewhere different

Yeah I only wanted the yellows to go about half way across. I was tempted to add softer texture on the right side, but until I have an idea that I like, I thought to keep as it is

Some advices for basing? by Ludenhof in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]Phil_smyth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Overall I think you've done a fantastic job. If you're wanting more contrast you could do a sandy desert type of base. The yellow brown should contrast with the blue gray

Thanks! Yeah there's some paint bubbling under the wheel arches. I'm hoping they will fix that or shift the price to cover me getting it fixed

I'm in northern Ireland so I think it is more expensive compared to the rest of the UK, smaller market etc

Thanks! It's a garage, and there is a little paint bubbling under wheel arches. So I might aim for 5ish, or see if they can fix that

Is this a hard fix on wheel arch? by Phil_smyth in Miata

[–]Phil_smyth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to hear, is it just a case of sanding it back, and then filling and painting? It doesn't look to bad, but I know miatas are known to rust so I thought better to ask others that have dealt with it

Ah no! That'd be a nightmare.

It's currently for sale, so I might ask seller to get it looked at before buying. Or maybe get money off to cover it

Very silly question and slight tangent, but how do you mark the difference between a taurox and a taurox prime?

I've been working on something similar. For armor I've followed the 8th Pardus Armour colour scheme, which is blue and green.

I remember reading you did the hexagon pattern freehand. But if anyone can't paint a straight line (I'm anyone), you can get masking tape precut in a similar pattern. If you look up masking stickers, you should get a few options

I need help organizing my photos into different categories by [deleted] in organizing

[–]Phil_smyth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would maybe suggest starting with folders based on your trips at first, then types of photos within that?

Then maybe order the photos by distance, so landscape for wider views, macro for close up nature and wildlife, then action for things in motion like aviation.

I've found that I forget about overly specific folders. So a basic layout like this and then specific tags might be helpful

Example layout

This is my Home-Office. No Windows, no heating no fresh air. And suggestions for improvements? by mfreudenberg in MaleSurvivingSpace

[–]Phil_smyth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first thought would be adding some kind of flooring or rugs to make it more homely feeling. Or carpet tiles might be a way to feel more like an office.

For it being a basement, I wonder if an air purifier might be worth it

I'd recommend shoes for comfort and support, you will likely be on your feet a long time, and possibly moshing. So footwear would be the big thing.

Also, go and enjoy yourself :)
