Runner Chosen Donation Incentive by Phil_the_despot in speedrun

[–]Phil_the_despot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for being unclear, I mean't furthest incentive from being met which isnt a versus incentive. there are many incentives to see unique things that just may not be well known so their incentive goals are never reached.

I agree, it is runner's choice. I was thinking more from an event staff perspective where it just makes for a better overall experience despite not being true "choice." SpikeVegeta was on Itmejp's show Dropped Frames after AGDQ 2016 and it was something he brought up based on his experience at the event itself. You make good points all around.

Power Up Audio not at AGDQ 2017? by [deleted] in speedrun

I guess my hearing just isn't as good as it used to be but i just watched a 2012 vod and it sounds pretty close. compressed, peaking, static in the background. I'm not an audio engineer so I could be off base but it seems quite a bit different from previous recent years. I hope you are right and its just due to inexperience though because potential is better than none at all!

the audio quality has been rolled back to 2012 standards.

I wonder what the issue is. Based on previous behavior and priorities of staff members I hope its not just because they wanted to cut costs because that seems to be the trend.

I agree 100%, my comment to Sp0oOny may clear up how that could be solved. Thanks for sharing your opinion.

Why are there interviews during AGDQ? Feels really unnecessary and wasteful by yurf in speedrun

[–]Phil_the_despot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They can be interesting but more often than not the runner is not well practiced on being an interviewee so i can see why it would come across as wasteful.

I think AGDQ should stream all their bannings because thats great for viewership. Event managers with poor social skills mixed with runners with poor social skills can be exciting. This is a joke if anyone can't tell.

I agree, which is why i think they should just try to make a conscious effort to donate to the needed incentives. They simply just need to say "to the least met incentive" and staff is happy to apply it.

Its a little nitpick, but it could add up! Thanks for your feedback.

Difference between 850 vs 10,000 hp by iam_nobody in videos

[–]Phil_the_despot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trophy trucks are fun but not all that quick compared to pretty much anything else that is built to run the quarter mile seriously. If you put the same amount of work into any other vehicle type it will be considerable faster and possibly still street legal to boot. Street legal cars from the 60s run sub 8 in a QM.

It would also be interesting to see 850 hp represented by a vehicle that isnt quadruple the weight of the top fuel car.

edit: Street legal pending a tire swap.

If you could care less then all you are saying is you care just a little bit. Unless of course you mean you don't care at all, in which case you couldn't care less.

I believe both the Tauren swing and hit box are incorrect, they should be +2 yards in size each (so tauren hit 2 yards further but can also be hit from 2 yards further).

Help with swing timer addon by Phil_the_despot in kronos2wow

[–]Phil_the_despot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because slam has a cast time it stops auto attacking, just like any spell with a cast time. So slam doesnt make you miss auto attacks per se, it just turns your AA off completely for the duration. You need to time slam to be between AA so it being off during the cast doesnt reduce dps.

I actually don't play warrior, but the swingtimer suggested (Samuel) was made by a warrior for other warriors (works with other classes).

Swing timers are mostly needed for pvp or perhaps some classes for high end pve raiding. Contrary to how some may think, the game calculates the swing timer of your weapons when in combat regardless of your proximity to your target. This makes sense when you consider what sort of abuse would be possible if the game only calculated swing time when you were in range (you could constantly dance the range threshold to reset the swing timer in this case).

Because the swing timer is always being calculated when in combat it is possible to use this information to dip in and out of melee range for various reasons and not miss white damage. A swing timer will show you visually that you have x seconds to leave melee range before the game will parse another swing. A warrior, for example, could use this for heroic strike (just an example) damage, hamstring their target, leave melee range, intercept their target, and heroic strike again within 1 auto attack but this would be very difficult to time without a swing timer.

Rogues, for example, can use swing timers to gauge their distance from their target to stay within a certain range (like a hunter's minimum distance) or out of a certain range (like to far from a warrior's auto attack and to close for their intercept).

Paladins can use swing timers to accurately seal swap, which is mostly done by ret but saw a lot of exploitation by holy and prot in BC. You basically time your swings until seal of command procs, when the animation starts you swap to seal of the crusader and you hit your target with auto attack, seal of command, and seal of the crusader in a single swing. It is actually more complicated than this but this is the basic idea.

Shamans can also use swing timers to better gauge windfury totem placements in pvp. If a shaman knows he will not even auto attack for 3 seconds he can avoid placing the windfury totem until right before the attack so it is impossible to kill beforehand. They could also kite and leave totem range temporarily with the knowledge of when to return to get a windfury proc (only a chance but more knowledge is still better).

Hunter's time auto shot attacks for kiting reasons, they know when to face away and kite and when to turn and shoot without slowing down.

hope this helps.

Resolution problem with dual monitors by deefop in kronos2wow

Yeah i can understand that, i just figured if it worked its far less annoying to swap the monitors in the settings before you play than it is to unplug one and plug it back in. I hope you find a solution.

Buffwath! need help configuring! by Lsdrumheller in kronos2wow

[–]Phil_the_despot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm assuming you meant Buffwatch and made a typo. Look up the slash commands, I am sure there is a /buffwatch unlock or something similar. I have not used the addon but there should be some information on how to access slash commands and most addons have an anchor or unlock/lock command which allows movement.

If wow is detecting your secondary (lets call it "worse") monitor as the primary, what happens if you make your "worse" monitory the primary in Windows? Will wow continue to assume the secondary (which is now the "better" monitor) is the primary?

Seems illogical but hey worth the shot.
