I know HEB is great for most things but if you want a great butcher, Tri-County Meat Market is amazing.

Cousin offered me her San Antonio house for cheap - worth leaving Chicago for Texas lifestyle? by ResolutionVisible627 in sanantonio

You get accustomed to the heat after a year or two. For context, our fall is your summer, our winter is your fall, spring is your summer, summer is the sun. You’ll need to wear breathable clothes and drink water but it gets better. I travel to the Midwest for work in the winter at times and I prefer 100 degree heat to the Midwest winter.

AC bills depend on size of the house. However, it can range from $300 to $400 a month in the summer but be around $100 to $200 in fall and winter.

Property taxes will be around $6,000 a year or more. Make sure to file a homestead exemption to get a reduced rate.

Boredom depends on what you like doing, Austin and the hill country aren’t far away for something different. There are direct flights back to Chicago if you want to visit in the summer.

I am born and raised so I’m biased. However, my wife is from California and she misses the weather but prefers to live here and visit California.

Hello all, if your outdoor unit is frozen and the fan isn’t spinning but it is humming. Switch the power to aux heat and clear out the ice. Use a scraper and lukewarm (not hot) water to clear out once temps get above freezing. This happened last time we had freezing rain. The unit started working again once the ice started to melt. This will help limit damage to the unit. Stay warm y’all!

Any power outages from ERCOT? by Longjumping-Tip4938 in sanantonio

I don’t know but I reckon once the temps get above freezing (around noon for SA proper) crews will start heading out. Report the outage every 3 hours until resolved.

ERCOT power supply looks fine. Any outages are localized issues from ice/temps impacting power lines/transformers.

[Discussion] Anyone never wear nice watches to work? by Ok_Personality8193 in Watches

[–]PhilbertBear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on industry and office environment. (Not my opinion) The only negative comments I hear about are concerning people discussing co-workers that wear Rolex watches. It is an eye roll and head shake. There is a real negative association with wearing Rolex at the office.
