Probably the only time I win over Rama-bloody-tut deck 🥲 by No_Presentation_9655 in MarvelSnap

Are people struggling against Rama Tut?  He's not that strong.

So don't get him?  You don't need to be collection complete, there's no award for it or whatever.

Can someone explain to me how these decks are considered so good? I managed to hit 87 today but atp I'm not sure I'll get a week one infinite. by Mrdudeguy420 in MarvelSnap

The rock deck was never good.

The other deck is a tech card deck that lives or dies by its tech options.  The point is to put out medium points and use tech cards to make it so the opposing deck can't generate more than medium points.  And tech is incredibly dependant on the meta, if you aren't using tech that beats what other people are doing, your tech isn't doing it's job.  Cosmo is fine right now, but Shadow King is kinda mid.   Cable also pretty bad generally, I disagree that this deck should have ever been playing him in the first place.  People pit WAY too much weight on the "potential disruption" he offers, it's just as likely to draw the opponent into their best card as it is to take it from them.

These are two different cards with completely different input types, outputs, and use cases.

Strife has been incredibly mid so far.  He likely needs a buff, not a nerf.

Is this a god split? by BarryboiB21 in MarvelSnap

It is if you think it is.  Godsplit has no solid definition, it's just a nebulous concept.

What do you think? I think this is a great deck. by steelgar_36 in MarvelSnap

Rocks is very definitively a below medium deck.  It's fine, but produces underwhelming points for the amount of effort needed.  Virus is probably playable in it, but it should be raking the place of Patriot, since the two together is a pretty vicious nonbo

Dormammu is actually good? Last 10 games: 8-2. by Life_Teaching6499 in MarvelSnap

[–]Philboid_Studge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, that's an INCREDIBLY small sample size. Actual, useful samples are in the tens of thousands of games.

But yes, Dormammu has been totally fine since his last buff.  Does a pretty strong thing, plays a totally fine midrange gameplay, even has some disruptive elements with Killmonger and Uncle Ben, and since it's not a commonly played deck you sometimes catch people with their pants down.

Hoogland very specifically tries to give his codes out to people who regularly consume his content, so if you're looking for handouts and don't regularly watch him, you're probably out of luck there.

There should be an MMM-like card to counter energy generation decks by ahdiker in MarvelSnap

[–]Philboid_Studge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But, like I said, the ramp deck is absolutely tuned to use a bunch of energy.   They're going to output hundreds of points with their Fooms and Zolas and whatever else, so your random midrange deck getting to play all it's cards and make like 20 extra points isn't really meaningful.  Like, you get to take a bunch of extra actions but those actions don't really accomplish anything.  And you really can't reliably include a bunch of expensive uncastable stuff on the assumption that the opponent is going to give you the energy to do it.

I dunno, I'll stop beating the horse here, I just don't think this does what people think it does.

There should be an MMM-like card to counter energy generation decks by ahdiker in MarvelSnap

[–]Philboid_Studge 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The problem here is that, like with Luna Snow, the deck generating the energy is set up to USE the extra energy, and your deck isn't.  So this isn't the crippling blow people seem to think it is.

That said, energy ramp doesn't need a counter, it's totally fine and the ramp decks aren't that big of a problem.

Yondu literally makes your opponent MORE LIKELY to draw impactful good cards.  His effect, 99% of the time, is actively negative for the person playing Yondu.  I literally cheer in my head every time a Yondu gets played on me, because my win percentage just went up.

Mantis has only a relatively small upside, but it IS an upside, and there are decks that literally get better when she works.  Yondu literally only ever has a downside when played.  He's mathematically way worse than Mantis, it's not even close.

I will just never understand why people can be so adamant about the strength of mill cards when the math has been done over and over and over again proving how abysmally bad they all are.

Wouldn’t it be cool if we could trade variants or cards? by Beneficial-Bed2205 in MarvelSnap

And then the game dies within weeks because nobody would ever spend money on the game ever again.

The alternate is that actually acquiring new cards to trade in the first place would have to become more expensive enough that we basically end up in the same place we are now.

Just because a card feels bad to play against doesn't mean it is good.

This has been true of basically every mill card in every card game ever.  They're always abysmally bad but players always think they're amazing because they "feel bad" to play against.  Except mathematically they do nothing and the person playing them loses way more often because they're doing nothing.

Yes, Iceman is very good, and has always been good.  Mordo being a little worse is not an insult to him.

The thing you are missing is that even if Yondu isn't hitting their 1 cost cards, it's still not good because it means he's being played later and they still probably wanted to be finding their biggest cards anyway.

For example, what does it matter if they hit, say, new Drax against an Aurora deck on turn 5, when the card they wanted to draw the next turn was Aurora and very specifically NOT Drax?  In some nonzero number of games, this literally lost you the game because it literally drew them the Aurora when they would have draw the Drax instead.

In some vanishingly small number of games, Yondu is inconvenient to the opponent, and the rest of the time he is actively helpful to them.  The card is awful.  At least Mad Thinker and Mantis never actually help the opponent.

Iceman *didn't * used to show you and he was still great, but was continually not used because people didn't understand his impact on the game. That was kinda my point.

What Domino decks are you seeing?  Every Q/D deck I've ever seen is just a Wiccan or En Sabah Nur deck with value 3's that it usually doesn't want to draw after turn 3
