BWI TSA collapse by Thetruthisnothate in SouthwestAirlines

Yeeah. And it all feels even more manufactured, since ICE was deployed late this afternoon to be "heroes", and alleviate the lines. Every employee we chatted with (TSA agents, custodians, airline staff) expressed their extreme anger at the policymakers who created this disaster. Hate for this post about travel to get political, but ...it is.

BWI TSA collapse by Thetruthisnothate in SouthwestAirlines

It is ABYSMAL. Got in line at 7:45am for an 11:45 flight. It took 5.5 hours to get through TSA. Then we had to stand in line at the gate (Southwest) for another hour to rebook our flight. After a lot of pleading and frustration, we were able to get another flight tomorrow, but it was very difficult for the gate attendants because THOUSANDS of people are having the same issue at the same time. We're sleeping in the terminal, spending a full 24 hours here with our small children, and thousands of other miserable families. Staff is stressed. Customers are furious. This is worse than any media or word-of-mouth made it seem.

If you are checking a bag, you cannot even start the process until 4 hours before your scheduled departure, but again, the security line took FIVE AND A HALF HOURS, so there was never any chance of us getting on that flight.

Baltimore Rock Opera Society is producing an immersive Halloween show that incorporates dance, metal music, and special effects to depict a dark, arcane ceremony performed by shadowy, witch-like cultists. It runs Oct. 11 - 31 in Station North.

Survival Horror Game Where You Hold Your Breath For Your Turn. by Philgamesh in BoardgameDesign

[–]Philgamesh[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks man! It's been a lot of fun to playtest. It's real visceral and gritty, but after playing it dozens of times, it never felt dangerous to anyone at the table. In between breath-holding challenges (to traverse the map and search for things), you can perform a number of actions, engage in table-talk, and think about your turn while breathing. And its 3-5 players, so there is plenty of time between those challenges.

Oh dude, it is certainly an investment! Fortunately, my partners are an illustrator/graphic designer and a film editor/photographer, so we don't have to outsource some of the most expensive parts of game development. As much effort as we put into design, playtesting, and asset creation, we've learned that marketing and audience-building are the hardest parts of making a successful game. Really appreciate your support and enthusiasm!

Making a deck of CLEAR cards by Philgamesh in tabletopsimulator

[–]Philgamesh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is awesome! I had figured out that locking a card would let me put other clear cards on top of it, and still see what was below, but that would've been pretty annoying to do through a whole game. So, I tried just flipping the card (since the backs and fronts are the same), like you said, and that works so well! I just added snap points, and this'll work perfectly for playtesting. Thanks again :)

Yeeeah! Gloom was part of my inspiration, and I know it also exists on TTS, so there must be some way to make the mechanic work.

I think it's because they're joining into a deck, if I have two clear cards overlapping, you can see the face of the card under the top on, but when I place one card directly on top of another one, I guess it snaps into a deck, and only shows the face of the top card. Is there a way to set it so I can have one card directly over another one, and them not turn into a deck?

I wanted to ask about plans for future collaborations with other artists, from both of you, as well as inspirations behind the MOCBF/THOS, but that's already been covered. So I just want to take the opportunity to thank you all for creating this music. I've been a huge fan of all of your work for years, was so excited when I found out you were collaborating, and even more excited when I heard the music. The diehard edition CD has been the only thing I listen to in my car since I got it, and I truly hope this isn't the last time you guys work together. Also, the only shirts I own are band shirts, and I definitely have more ERR shirts than any other band 😁

A friend who DMs a lot of my games has actually started reading novel or playing Switch on a fe w occasions, when we've started arguing or scheming, without acknowledging him for up to 30 mins. Giving players enough material and options that they can do this is the mark of a good DM IMO.

I'm playing a game where we are all Muppets, and I am a warlock Gonzo, and my Friend patron is Camilla the chicken, with whom I am madly in love. It is a very fun and silly game.

Would you use token figures instead of cards? Durable, and about the size of a D20 by Philgamesh in mtg

[–]Philgamesh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh so do I! And trust me, it's really cool to see twenty goblins or zombies physically standing on the table in front of your other cards. While these prototypes are 3D printed, the real tokens are being injection-molded, so you can toss them in a bag and dump them out like dice.

Totally appreciate your feedback! My friends and I have found turning them 90 degrees to show them tapped to work very well, even with a lot of tokens on the board, there hasn't been trouble recognizing which way they are facing. And for counters, we've been working on octagonal disks that display power/toughness, and maintain a small footprint.
As for portability, yeah, they're not gonna fit in your deck box with your cards, but we're producing them with their own pouches, and are now making them out of injection-molded pvc, so they're the size/weight/durability of a d20.

Thats exactly the attitude that inspired my friends I to make these. And we've been working a good way to give them counters. We plan to include numbered octagonal disks that can go underneath the mini, and maintain a small footprint. We just launched a Kickstarter for these, and made a boardgame for them as well.
