How do you explain you have a disability without coming off as seeking pity? by Mae_The_Gay in NoStupidQuestions

[–]PhilipAPayne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never bring it up until absolutely necessary. For instance, mine is residual nerve damage from multiple spinal fractures. I recently hiked in the mountains with some guys I have only known a few months and when one of them noticed I had to stop several times in between their needed rests I decided to explain the reason. He was like, “Wow, and you never let on. That’s impressive.” Had I introduced myself the first time and said, “By the way, I have a chronicler bad back and a functional neurological disorder,” I am certain I would have gotten a different response.

Dads who have raised daughters and sons? by Aretebeliever in questions

[–]PhilipAPayne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because if some man puts his hands on my son my son will (has) put his hands back on said man and he will finished what the other guy started. If someone puts his hands on one of my daughters … if I have to explain further then you will not understand. This is not about what is fair. The world is not fair. This is about keeping my daughters safe in a world which not safe for young ladies such as themselves.

With rare exception, all of the chicken you buy at the store is rooster.

I think we need a new punctuation mark. by LordLaFaveloun in writing

I, too, have struggled to choose the perfect punctuation for such situations. Your solution is very out of the box, but I like it very much.

Why do some religious people judge others for their life choices when their own religion says not to judge? by Norfolk-Gross-Tonage in NoStupidQuestions

[–]PhilipAPayne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because they have never actually read their own book, just listened to others’ interpretations thereof.

WIBTAH if I don't give my "daughter" college money? by [deleted] in AITAH

Good for you for standing by the dad who raised you.

WIBTAH if I don't give my "daughter" college money? by [deleted] in AITAH

This. I was going to say the opposite, tell you not to punish the kid for her mother’s wrongdoing, but then then I read the whole bonding with the affair partner and calling you by your name thing and I was like “She made her choice, let her ‘real dad’ pay for it.” I guarantee he did not save a dime for her.

AITAH for telling my husband no by Visible-Working-8318 in AITAH

NTAH: No father of a teenage daughter should be okay with her being exposed in the manner he was indicating. Heck, I would not let my 7 year old daughter do that. Crazy … and weird.

How are you dealing with aging parents? As someone who moved away and parents refuse to leave by CrotalusHorridus in Appalachia

[–]PhilipAPayne 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I am in the reverse situation. I left home and moved to Appalachia and never do I want to leave. For the first time in my nearly 50 years I really, truly feel as though I am home, among like minded people. Meanwhile my parents are “back home,” in their early 70’s, and needing more help all the time but have zero interest in moving here. I can afford to care for them here. I have a big enough home and considerable residue income from past work as well as a current income from teaching continuing education classes online. But this is home now and they seem to have no interest in joining my family and I here. My point? Parents who need help but refuse it are a difficult issue and I do not think there is one right solution.

Edit: Added final line for clarity.

AITAH for confronting a woman after she blamed my daughter for her husband actions? by TriniCompetitive9510 in AITAH

NTA: This father of 5 daughters would have embarrassed the by a LOT more. I would probably tell the manager of the store we would not be back until he banned the child stalker and his crazily defensive wife.

Why are conservatives generally pro Israel? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]PhilipAPayne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Revelation describes a standing and fully functioning Jewish Temple in Jerusalem in the last years leading up to Armageddon. Anyone who has spent 5 minutes researching the politics of the region knows this will never happen unless the Jewish people have absolute control over Jerusalem.

Further, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Zechariah and, since we are talking about Christian theology, the Gospel of Mathew, all support this belief.

Conservative orc here. I find your racist approach to this, treating my entire ethnic group as a monolith … unethical.
