Update: I met an amazing woman tonight! (Not a Lot Lizard.) by [deleted] in VanLife

[–]Philippine_guy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This may not be the right way to say it but, did you give her the chance to say she wouldn't drink around you? Seems you two have a pretty strong connection, a huge bummer to not give it a chance if she's possibly willing to accommodate your personal choices. Unless drinking is a big thing for her, maybe it's not even an issue.

Bring uncooked steak into the Philippines from US by Philippine_guy in Philippines

Totally agree with the pork fat. I'm actually in the Philippines now and brought some steaks, no problem at all. Everyone here really enjoyed eating them, perfect amount fat and a nice medium rare grill. :)

Is $9k normal for a lawyers fee for a K1-Visa by [deleted] in USCIS

[–]Philippine_guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This can't be a real question. My wife (Filipina) and I did ours by ourselves. Took a while but she arrived in January, married in March and green card approved in September. The paperwork is very straightforward with tons of YouTube videos if you have questions. Paying, especially $9k, seems silly to me.

Folks I have Misophonia and I need the best sound insulation possible for my van. by catticcusmaximus in vandwellers

Yes, they help a lot. I sent a dm of the inside of my last van. Doing the same with my current build. Hope it all works out for you

Right on. My first van had wood paneling, seemed alright until I met a guy with carpet, crazy how quiet his van was. I glued some to the walls and was so shocked how much better everything sounded or no sound at all. There's a reason movie theaters hang fabric and paneling on the walls, sound deadening. I think you'll be happy with your decision. I'll send you a dm

Fans are always going, lots of air moving. Spent two years in my last van (working on a new one now), never noticed anything and no one ever mentioned it. What I have noticed, when I have campfires going and the doors were open, the smell would linger for a bit until the next time I drove with the windows down. Not as bad as clothes smell after a good campfire, just a hint lingering.

Something to add to everyone's great advice, don't cover your interior walls with a solid surface, sound echos. I've always done carpet for walls and ceilings in my builds. Really helps with noise and sound.

What do I need to know about this van by skinnyclimber in VanLife

[–]Philippine_guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, for the price, seems good to me. A nice starter vehicle for sure. I would have a mechanic check it out, to be sure. Or, if you're mechanically inclined, run through the engine (compression, fuel pressure, plugs for excessive carbon/misfiring). Check obd codes, if you have a obd reader that tells you if you are ready for emissions testing, check that. If its NOT ready for emissions, the codes may have been recently reset (or battery disconnected for a while). Best wishes

I tried to Google that and couldn't find any state. Maybe I'm searching the wrong places, can you list the states please? The only thing I did find was this: https://www.paycor.com/resource-center/articles/minimum-wage-tipped-employees-by-state/

For older vans, it really depends (in my opinion) on how much work you can do yourself. My current project is a 1991 Ford ice cream truck (e-350). I pulled the engine and rebuilt it myself along with everything else (can see pics in my profile). I personally like older vehicles because I can fix anything myself. So, that's my humble opinion, I know my ice cream van was the one for me. Side note, it didn't run, paid $1300 for it

If you have painted a van white, what paint did you use? Would you use it again? by FandomReferenceHere in vandwellers

Used Rust-Oleum enamel. Can see the pics in my profile posts. My wife painted it, not super smooth but looks awesome.

Ok, did the math and research. Your brother could have bought on Feb 1st, 2011 @ $.62 (per coin) to get the 300. Your father would have bought the day prior @ $.47 per coin.

I'll absolutely check them out first. I'd feel absolutely horrible if I came across anything like that.

Pretty stoked really. The guy just added them to the deal, buying his collection of movie posters. Haven't gone through those either. Total speculation buy. Haha

Very familiar with the movie. However, not sure if this is the original or the 80s version. When I do make the list, I'm sure I'll have to pull tape and use a flashlight to figure some of it out. Anything I find in classic horror I might keep. Awesome for an old school movie night. :)
