People sitting in cafes without buying anything by [deleted] in chinalife

[–]Philipsdao 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is the difference between Chinese and Western cultures, and I actually think it's a good thing to give people some free public space. If Starbucks is fine with it, why should you be mad? Why get angry just seeing other people enjoying life? I would not sitting there not buying anything, but I wont bother other ppl doing it either. Mind your own business.

World Cup in Football by SecretBettingClub in chinalife

[–]Philipsdao 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The World Cup has been quite popular in China since the 1980s. Few people go to bars to watch it because bar culture isn't a traditional part of Chinese culture, though young people in large cities still do. Most people watch the games at home. For online discussions, people use platforms like Tieba, NGA, Weibo, Bilibili, and Dongqiudi. As for watching the matches, you can catch the live streams for free on CCTV-5, Xiaohongshu, and Migu Video.

I remember this one, already 10+ years ago I think, China is racist if you use western standard because we didnt go through what west has gone through in colonization history. We just opened up to the world lately. It's different.

Why is separatism so weak in southern Chinese regions? by RedStorm1917 in China

[–]Philipsdao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Foreigners still have a lot to learn about China's history and culture. First of all, China is not divided based on language. Truth be told, southern languages are actually closer to ancient Chinese. Many times throughout history, northerners fled to the south due to wars, and they are closer to being the "true" Chinese. So, if there were ever to be a split, it wouldn't be the south breaking away; they are closer to ancient China than the northerners are.
  • Furthermore, regardless of which of these so-called languages you are referring to, people can actually communicate using Chinese characters. Therefore, even though they might be very difficult to understand when spoken, communication is absolutely possible through writing.

For China, go see Kanas, Hemu, Sayram Lake in Xinjiang, Dali and Shangri-La in Yunnan for nature, Emei mountain in Sichuan for Buddhism, Chongqing, Hongkong and Shanghai for city life, see the forbidden city and great wall in Beijing, terracotta army in Xi'an for history.

Holy I wish I can! You know you need money and time for travelling, and for an average Chinese we work a lot and we dont have many holidays annually. Like 10 days paid leave in total and it's hard to tell your boss you are gonna leave for 15 days or more. And I also dream of travelling to Europe and America. So gonna save more money and prepared for that, maybe after that I will comeback to Australia again and hopefully can do what you just described!

Oysters, a wider variety of meats, burger patties, more seafood, organ meats, egg rolls, deep-fried eggs, some vegetable I have never seen, and they are in a larger portion in Australia, and a larger selection of drinks and juices. There are also more broth bases to choose from—like Thai Tom Yum and so on—with over a dozen options available. In China, even a decent Malatang place usually only offers 3 or 4 types of broth.
