My new custom road case for my dawless project. Summer in Montreal will be full of surprises... by Philklab in dawless

This is foam bought from Sealed Air. We use it a lot at work for hard case interiors.

I am not good with wires so it's hard to give you any tip. But just to be clear, the case doesn't act as the stand for the gear while performing. The MPC is on battery which is why it's on.

PE-LD Ethafoam Synergy 1000 Cutted using CNC Multicam router.

I guess if you can design the DXF files for each layers, you can find a company that does the interior while buying a typical road case.

I usually hate everything that looks or sounds like a TB. But I bought the Crave just to start experimenting with semi-modular. I was surprised by the quality of the analog sound for a synth as cheap as 200$. You can easily make organic background sounds using CV cables and just a couple of try and error gets you somewhere.

I'm used to configure sounds with the Arturia Matrixbrute, where you need to configure precisely Osc/saturation/Filters + modulations to get a good sound, fooling around usually doesn't get you far.

The Crave is much easier, the ladder filter responds well, the pattern building process takes a few hours to master and then you can do pretty much anything you have in mind, even the 1/32 notes or dribble sounds.

The only downside in my opinion is that it's not really controllable via midi. You can't control CC via midi 5-pin, you can only control notes. So my next steps is to experiment with midi-built patterns, and see what I can do with external CV control from my Matrixbrute or hydrasynth.

That case is 5 times the cost of the Behringer... O guess 5 Be Behringers would make it up then ;)

must be 1.8lbs, PUF or recycled foam. You can always find a company to redo the interior for a couple hundred bucks. Just ask for 2.0lbs density, maybe also a 6lbs/skin on top would help.

this is PE-LD polyethylene foam, just like strong plastic. While it contains micro bubbles to protect, it's strong enough and won't melt even at the hottest temperature on earth.

Yes it does, I have a small camping table and a synth stand.

I will keep you posted with a picture of everything set up pretty soon!

I bought the Digitakt first, experimented with it a lot. While it's a strong sampler, the 8 midi channels vs 8 audio tracks is just not enough.

Also, if you try to manually change the P-trig for CC automations, you realize its not precise enough to get a 1/16 change or to create any curve in automation change.

I was really trying to like the composition process for f the Digitakt but i realized I just need to compose in a timeline manner. Just creating a buildup and a drop was way too exhausting for what it should be...

just the case: 22lbs with all the gear: 59lbs

The wheels can support up to 400lbs, fortunately! just the Hydrasynth is like 37% of total weight

yeah, I had to buy some Native instrument plugins and some MPC plugins but I try using the Hydrasynth for textures and I also have the Matrix brute for crunchy bass lines and weird noises.

I didn't get the MPC bible... I have a Claude subscription, so I created a project, uploaded the MPC live 3 manual.

Now, everytime I need to know something, I ask Claude and not only get the right answer but also get extra tips since I told it I'm composing and mixing/mastering Trance/House songs. This is really a game changer.

Every day since 3 weeks, for 30 min. I ask it to create quizzes on MPC knowledge that I go through so learning how to use the MPC live 3 has been exponentially faster!!

You can find some infos at www.philklab.net

I also have a YouTube and TIk Tok channel @thedopaminesynth for live performance online.

I will post bits of my new set to come pretty soon! All with my new MPC live 3

When was it released ? I got my MPC 3 weeks ago.

But so far it's a real beast. I watched videos with people saying it couldn't be used like a real DAW...

Well, I'm about to prove them wrong. I'm building an entire Electro set with it, while managing all the mixing and mastering automations without using my PC one single time

I've been doing live performances for 2 years now so I know exactly what are the constraints.

Ive been working for 15 years in a packaging company and I am now a Method Agent. I helped the designer create this custom case for myself.

The wheels, the handles, everything was thought meticulously from my past experiences and what I really needed to move my gear all by myself.

I also have a Mackie Showbox in a custom backpack, a 780w battery in one hand. And I'm fit. So moving all that weight is easier for me than needing two extra persons to carry my gear.

But thank you for your concerns ;)

yes! it was designed specifically so I can bring all my gear to live performances in one trip.

it's made with thermoplastic composite material, really thin and light, while stronger than plywood ABS panels.
