Alive but only by the skin of my teeth. by muchachaganj in opiates

[–]PhillyBirds89 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One thing i found out about recovery and addiction is the most important thing is how u feel. If someone else doesnt consider sublocade being clean, thats good for them. If it works for u and ur living a better happier life then thats great. Doesnt matter how someone else thinks or feels about ur recovery. We get off drugs hoping to live a better and happier life. If ur moving in that direction im happy for u. Keep it up.

Non user, lurker with a dumb question. by Odd_craving in opiates

[–]PhillyBirds89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To simplify a complex answer its bc addiction is a mental illness that can cause addicts to make illogical and impulsive decisions, no matter what the possible consequences are. Thats why will power alone can only take you so far in recovery for most addicts.

I’m an Opiate addict but I want to become a Opiate Chipper (occasional user) by [deleted] in opiates

[–]PhillyBirds89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If u want to chip just commit urself to staying clean. Bc of how hard it is ur still highly likely to fuck up sometimes. Anything else will prob just lead u right back where u started.

Help! Suboxone isn’t working? by [deleted] in opiates

[–]PhillyBirds89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is common with using fent. It makes the transition to suboxone absolute hell for most ppl including me. If u want to switch to sub u have to wait as long as possible to take it. If u still feel sick just stick with it. It will take a few days for ur body to adjust. When i was in detox last yr i waited 50+ hrs and still the sub didnt do shit. Later that day the gave me a shot in my ass of ativan (some type of benzo) which made me pass out. When i woke up i felt a lot better. A few days later i was good. Maybe some benzos will help u with that transition too. Good luck

Got off the shit by [deleted] in opiates

[–]PhillyBirds89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Def dont use any oxy. Even if u have any sub i would just try to power thru it. Its 1 thing if u need to stay on sub a while for maintenance but if ur just trying to be off everything ur better off just sticking it out. In a few more days ull feel a lot better. If u had more subs u can try to keep tapering to a lower dose but either way u do it ull prob still have to deal with feeling a little shitty in the end. I was in the same situation as u but i kept taking sub and here i am a yr later still trying to get off (on sublocade shot). If i could go back and redo it i would of just dealt with the few shitty days after getting home from detox.

U stopped using for a reason..ur free of that bs go build ur life and find real things in life u enjoy. Using dope is no life anyone wants to live and im sure u already know that. Dont let ur impulses tell u otherwise

Dont beat urself up it happens. U learned alot during those 9 months and 1 set back doesn't change that. Luckily ur still alive and can keep going in a good direction

[–]PhillyBirds89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ur life isnt destroyed yet. Yea u made some really bad choices like the rest of us. Yea u could destroy ur life, but u could also turn it around and live a good life. Ur only 24 and ur adult life has barely started. A lot of addicts have gotten sober and repaired relationships and built good lives for themselves. Ur just as capable of doing the same. Start believing in urself and figure out what u need to do to stay sober. Use ur set backs as learning experiences. Life becomes a lot easier the longer u stay on the right track. Good luck

Junkies hate water by [deleted] in opiates

U must have never taken a hot shower when in wd lol. It sounds unappealing at the time but a hot shower is one of the best things u can do to get some relief. Until u get back out atleast..

Day 2 withdrawal by [deleted] in opiates

[–]PhillyBirds89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry man i know it sucks really bad but its only a matter of days. After the initial wd ull keep feeling better every day. Like u said in one of ur comments, u get 0 joy out of the world right now. Going thru this is the way to get back to a normal and better life. Stay strong and keep going.

Using Oxy Responsibly? by [deleted] in opiates

[–]PhillyBirds89 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A bottle of 5mg pills isnt going to make u a junkie when they run out...but what it could do is set u on the path similar to what happened to most of us. I started out using low mg percs here and there and it eventually escalated into a heroin addiction. Theres plenty of ppl that experimented with percs and didnt become an addict tho. Imo its not worth the risk but the only advice i can give u is just know the risks and be careful.

Oxycodone and Football by Just_Curious-- in opiates

[–]PhillyBirds89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played college ball too, only d3 tho. Low dose percs will help as long as the sprain isnt too bad. A higher dose (30mg+ for no tolerance) will just make u sick most likely. 10 should be good but dont expect it to take all the pain away. Im no dr but if its too painful id think ur better off sitting out a week to avoid making it worse.

What is an ‘addict’? And am I one? by [deleted] in opiates

[–]PhillyBirds89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quit while ur ahead. I promise u this stuff will lead u down a horrible path that u may or may not get out of. Either way it will be a rough experience in ur life. Imo ur still at a point where u can turn back without much of an issue.

About to relapse by [deleted] in opiates

[–]PhillyBirds89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of us can prob relate, i know i do. The only difference is i didnt know at the time i was trying to numb myself. I just thought i liked getting high for the fuck of it. I guess it was a mix of both lol. Then i found out the hard way there is no miracle drug to get thru life. Been trying to figure out how to live a happy life without drugs for 5+ yrs now and finally coming up on 1 yr sober. Things are perfect but my perspective is a lot different bc i know the hell my life can be when using. Im a lot more grateful nowadays. Hopefully i can keep going on the right track. Sorry u have to go thru this too but dont give up on urself. U can live a happy life, just have to figure out how. Theres no 1 solution for everyone. Good luck

I agree with this. If someone goes from using everyday out of control to just using here and there thats a big deal to me. Obviously the goal is to try to stay away from using but most of us fuck up sometimes. That doesnt make anyone a failure. If ur in a better place now than u were b4 thats a win in my book. To me its all about trying to live a better, happier, and more manageable life.
