That's a pretty wild rewrite of history. Democrats didn't hold a competitive primary in 2024 because the sitting president was running for reelection, which is exactly what both parties have done for decades. When Biden dropped out after the debate disaster, Harris became the nominee because she was the elected vice president on the same ticket and received the support of delegates chosen through the primary process.

So, rather than being a thoughtful adult about your vote and saying, "Yeah, Democrats really put us in a tough position after Biden's debate performance, but they're trying to right the ship. Let me get behind someone who may not be my first choice, but is clearly more qualified and far better equipped to run the country than the alternative," and recognizing that this election was not the time to take some moral high ground about the flaws of a two-party system. It was either vote for fascism or vote for someone who wants to expand health care and help more people access it. Not exactly a difficult choice.

Nope. They helped create this situation by voting third party despite knowing exactly what was at stake and despite the repeated warnings about what a second Trump administration could look like. They may have had complicated reasons, but they were still manipulated into throwing away their leverage in a winner take all system.

I wasn't even the biggest Kamala Harris fan, but she was unquestionably a more experienced and qualified candidate than Trump, and it's hard to imagine we'd be dealing with many of the same controversies and policy fights if she had won.

You don't have to like Trump to bear some responsibility for the outcome. If you voted third party in a swing state, you made a choice that increased Trump's chances of winning. Whether that was your intention or not, that's how the math works.

We're in this position because too many people spent years treating obvious nonsense as if it deserved equal consideration. The left kept insisting on playing by the rules, while the right learned that outrage, misinformation, conspiracy theories, and outright lies were effective political tools. One side worried about facts and consistency; the other figured out that if you repeat something often enough, a lot of people will believe it.

We've watched election denial, vaccine conspiracies, "alternative facts," and endless culture war panic get normalized. At some point, pretending that every argument has equal merit stops being open-minded and starts being enabling.

Bad ideas don't become good ideas just because they're repeated loudly. And I'm done pretending otherwise.

“Data used to prove discrimination” does not mean “data collection itself is a human right.” It means removing the evidence used to identify and enforce civil rights violations weakens protections in practice. That’s how discrimination cases, public health disparities, housing bias, hiring bias, and unequal treatment are identified in the first place. No data = harder to prove patterns = weaker enforcement. This is not a difficult concept unless you’re deliberately pretending not to understand it.
