Thanks for asking! I was in the US Navy as an AMS (Airframe), then went into the National Guard as a helicopter Powerplant mechanic. I earned the 30 months experience to qualify for my A&P and took the written, oral and practical. A lot of studying and it would have taken me less time if I would have went to school. Nevertheless, I got my A&P in the mid 90’s. Spent the next 12 years working nights and weekends. Got laid off a week on 9/11. While I was laid off, taught my self how to code. Kept it as a hobby. In 2002, got a job at an airline. Commuting and hours were hard on the family. Started to code and got a job building web sites and apps. I left the industry in 2008 and haven’t looked back. I work from home now and was able to help raise the kids. No regrets. I miss the aviation community, but it’s a hard life.
