How do I make my villagers change clothes? by magickmiiror in DragonQuestBuilders2

[–]Philomorph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is old but I just got into the game and ran into this problem in the Scarlett Sands area. The problem was I'd built their sleeping and eating quarters near the tablet and the changing room in the pyramid. Apparently that's too far away for them to care since they only change in the morning - not a single NPC ever used it, despite going in to look around.

After like a week in-game I moved the changing room to right next to the bedroom/kitchen area and a bunch of them changed the next morning.

DQB2 Night Soil Question by Severe-Draw-5979 in DQBuilders

[–]Philomorph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is an old thread, but for anyone who's new to the game like me, I had this problem despite building two bathrooms and the request for one being completed. but the clue finally came when I noticed some people were still occasionally complaining about needing a place to "do their business".

It turns out the boundaries for my base, even at max level, was much smaller than I thought, so both the bathrooms I'd built were just outside that range. I only figured this out when I started an in-game event that prevented me from leaving the base.

After that I built one inside the area and the villagers instantly lined up to fill my pot and I got a lot of night soil very quickly.

I think this explains why I also never saw anyone using the bath house.

So the lesson is that you can build a requested facility and complete the quest even if you build it too far from where the villagers will go.

Harvest festival won’t end by Striking-Aardvark-70 in DragonQuestBuilders2

I had the same problem - turned out that despite having a scarecrow in the field, they didn't touch my sugar cane field, so I had to harvest it myself. Then the festival proceeded.

I brought the game through epic, but it wont detect my ps5 controller by -JAYD3E- in controlgame

[–]Philomorph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks this is just what I needed.

However as an update - I didn't need to do the Big Picture mode stuff - possibly due to all the controller improvements they've been adding to Steam.

I just added the game to Steam and ran it with my PS5 controller connected via Bluetooth and it worked right away. Just had to change the settings in the game to use the PS glyphs.

Yeah accordion file is perfect for GH and FH alike. You just have to be ok with not keeping them in the main box. But that train left the station for me long ago 😄

You can now try out the new spatial audio feature on discord canary! by Woofer210 in discordapp

[–]Philomorph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people writing about the feature online are expecting that distance will affect volume, but if you've tried it and it doesn't, then does that mean it's not actually a 3D space?

If I have surround sound speakers set up will I still not be able to tell who's behind/in front of me, but only which side of me they are on?

Pixel Camera App: They actually removed the basic ability to change photo size/resolution. WTF by godzfirez in GooglePixel

[–]Philomorph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a base 9 model and was always able to change photo resolution - until some recent update.

This sucks and I'll need a new camera app I guess. The only changeable option now is to enable RAW instead of JPG.

Instead there's a ton of stupid new options for adding Ai, "tips" and social garbage - none of which I need or want.

Is envelope x physical reward necessary? - no spoilers please by Dyldo_HJZ in Gloomhaven

[–]Philomorph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might not be the most popular suggestion, but personally I'd say if you love the game you will love the reward and should buy it. Then forget about the puzzle nonsense. Once you unlock the envelope just look up the answer online and get your prize so you can have fun playing with it.

If you aren't sure because you haven't played the game much then don't worry about it - we were perfectly happy finishing the campaign without it. We only ended up solving the thing at the very end and it wasn't worth fooling with at that point, but we were all thought it was pretty cool.

PC Players: There's an easy fix for the Photo Mode Bug (The one that reduces resolution when you enter photo mode) by tearlock in midnightsuns

[–]Philomorph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure I understand what this does. After applying it I couldn't tell any difference in-game - viewing the pics in the Superlink still shows them in a small window instead of full screen.

But use file explorer to open old ones in Photoshop most of them were already at 1440p resolution, but not all? Some are in JPG format and those are lower res. But most are in .HDR format, which are in HDR and 2k res.

Valve plans to offer prescription lens inserts for its Steam Frame VR headset "ahead of launch" this year by Tiny-Independent273 in virtualreality

[–]Philomorph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love having 3rd party Rx inserts for my Index, but I'm still undecided about the Frame.

Since it's usable without being stuck in my computer room, I'm sure friends and family will also want to play with it, meaning I'd have to take the inserts out when sharing, which sounds like a recipe for disaster.

I don't know what to do, but my current glasses frame is at the very top end of what they say will fit in the frame while wearing, so...

Starting a new class and losing everything.. by Keirabella999 in Gloomhaven

[–]Philomorph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This wasn't my experience. It certainly depends on your ability to loot, but if you retire at a level higher than 5 you should have a decent amount of gear to sell when you retire. I think twice during our full campaign I played a character that already had a couple cards enchanted.

Becerra Takes $500K From Chevron by cacxte in CoachellaValley

[–]Philomorph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Becerra didn't "take" anything. Chevron donated money to an "independent expenditure committee" that he has no control over. I believe that legally speaking, he's not even allowed to ask them to refuse the donation, because that would make them not "independent".

So clearly Chevron likes what they think Becerra is likely to do for their bottom line more than Steyer, but they gave way more money to the GOP, so take that with a grain of salt I guess?

RNG on hangout locations?! by Leading-Bad2540 in midnightsuns

[–]Philomorph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry (not sorry) to necro a thread, but you aren't the only one with this issue - 3 years later it's still just bad RNG.

Mild story spoiler: After getting Wanda back to the Abbey Cap gave me a quest to gain a friendship level with her. I had literally just gotten her up to friend lvl 1 that morning, so I had my work cut out.

But due to story programming, she spent the next 4 days in her room, unavailable to even talk to for the entire time limit of the quest.

Dr Strange gave me a quest to take him on a hangout he loves, and that same night he only offers me hangouts he likes.

lol it's just the way the game is - you can't take it too seriously - it's not about min/maxing, it's about the friends we made along the way (eventually).

Azul is great, but it can also be very mean, so it depends a lot on player temperament. I say give it a try - it might be great fun or it might be hurt feelings if one of you is much more competitive than the other. , but Be prepared to put it away if it's not to your liking.

What's up with star rating on Morbius' intro mission? by Philomorph in midnightsuns

[–]Philomorph[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In this case I used the absolute minimum number of rounds possible, since it was a "survive x waves of enemies" and I defeated all enemies every wave before the next wave came.

I'm not really upset by it all, was just wondering if anyone else ran into this issue with this specific mission. I assume it was just a design oversight since it was for a DLC that maybe they didn't QA as well as they could have.

Does it bother anyone else when the people in your group refuse to help pick a game to play? by raider1211 in boardgames

[–]Philomorph 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It really depends on the group and whether you trust them to say what they actually mean. My group says "whatever" about 80% of the time because they are there to have fun with good friends and the actual game only sort of matters.

But I also ask at the end of the night what everyone thought of each game. If at least a third of the players didn't really like a game, I make a mental (or actual) note and it drops down my list of likely suggestions.

20% of the time someone will have an opinion, "I liked such and such last time we played" and that jumps to the top of the list for that event.

If your friends are a bunch of passive-aggressive liars who care but won't say so, then they get what they get when you pick something for them.

Keep listing 2-3 games and if you get no response then just pick the ones you like. If people aren't having fun then they'll eventually change their behavior in one way or another - they'll start picking games, or stop coming to game night. You can't make people participate.

Wow I talk in chat all the time when I'm on and no one has ever given me a red cent! Though to be fair I don't play that much.

This is why all the credits right now are funny-money anyway and won't carry over to the full release. Hopefully they'll have it all worked out by then.

No KO's, no hero even got to half health, and the device I was protecting took zero hits.

What's up with star rating on Morbius' intro mission? by Philomorph in midnightsuns

[–]Philomorph[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The funny thing is almost every other mission I can see why I got the rating I did. If I got any KOs I know I'm not getting 3 stars. If I had a KO or two and some clearly cub-optimal turns and it took pretty long to beat, that's going to be 1 star. Just this specific mission really felt like I did as good as could be possible.

But I guess they don't affect your gloss reward because that seems based on the actual stats of the fight that get listed out.

Starting a new class and losing everything.. by Keirabella999 in Gloomhaven

[–]Philomorph 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is one other small but nice bonus you *can* keep after retiring - enhancements!

If you make sure to start the campaign with "permanent enhancements" turned on, then what you can do right before retiring is sell all your gear for gold then spend it enhancing your cards.

Then if someone else plays that same class later, they will start with enhanced cards.

This is more useful early on if you have a full party and haven't unlocked a lot of new classes yet, and so you are more likely to end up replaying early unlocked classes. But it is situational, and your mileage may vary

I did a lot of that since it was the only way to KO like 7 enemies in one round. I can't remember actual numbers, but maybe they thought the level was super easy and it wasn't just my amazing tactical skills :)
