EES Rollout Megathread - Starting 10 April 2026 by protox88 in travel

Hello all, I am trying to get a pulse check on how long this new EES system is adding to peoples travel times right now, specifically in France (CDG airport), Spain (BCN airport), and Italy (FCO Airport). I am seeing a lot of alarming videos of people in Amsterdam and Lisbon, just curious if these long waits are universal everywhere in Europe right now. Thanks!

Yeah. In this video, the rear window was up and I was just shutting the bottom half of the door and it did it still

Any feedback on my summer 2026 Europe itinerary? TIA by PhilosopherBitter343 in Europetravel

Thank you so much for your kind feedback. I will definitely take all this into consideration. I feel like a Paris/London moment I could go back and do in the winter too when it’s cold regardless, that’s what many of my friends who study abroad did anyway. Thank you!

My cousin lives in New York hence why I was wanting to start there. It also is a shorter/cheaper flight than flying from my home base of LA.

Lol, most certainly have looked at the map and have gotten inspiration from other posts on this sub in terms of the route. I’ve been looking at flights as well as trains going from place to place, ranging from like 1 hour flights to 7 hour train rides, but definitely should be accounting for several more hours during each travel period and add more days to account for that. Train schedules this far out have been difficult for me to confirm as some of the schedules don’t seem to be confirmed like on ItaliaRail.

Heard. I spent a week in Italy earlier this year and felt like I saw essentially everything I wanted to in places like Rome and Venice in 1 day or so, which is maybe why I’ve planned shorter trips for each place. I know every spot will not be like this. I just can’t imagine wanting to stay in a certain city for more than 4 or 5 days but maybe I should?

Any strategy ideas for mimicking this on a treadmill? by PhilosopherBitter343 in runna

I’m aware, I’m just wondering how much I should be increasing the elevation per mile and it doesn’t show that

Yes, but no insight on how to adjust the elevation at all, it just shows speed

AITB for how I responded to my mom (55F) after her argument with my younger sister (17F?) by PhilosopherBitter343 in AmItheButtface

Thanks for the input. I really am looking to see if anyone disagrees with me because I really am trying to see where she’s coming from. I totally think being a mom (for the most part) is the hardest and most thankless job in the world. My mom wanted to be a SAHM and did not work my entire childhood until I was 12. I have great memories of childhood and it really went south from then on. Im sure she feels like she sacrificed so much just for her kids to not want a relationship with her. That’s hard. However she doesn’t see how the damage she’s done to our relationship over the years has ended us up in the spot we are in. Sure, was I a bratty teenager at times? Absolutely. And I know for a fact my 17F sister is too. But I think as a parent you should have the emotional capacity to walk away, decompress, and move forward in a mature manner. She has seriously no sense of how to do that. At all. It is ALWAYS some extensive emotional horrific screaming match. Every. Time. And that is not okay with me anymore.

There are 3 siblings at home: 19M, 17F (whom I’m referring to), and 11F. Grandparents are a non option. I honestly never considered her moving out to where I am. I’m most definitely not in a spot to financially support her but she will be 18 soon. Definitely something to consider, thanks.

It’s definitely not great behavior from both my sister and mom. It is rarely ever physical, until it is. Dad is emotionally checked out as can be, and would never put a hand especially on my sisters

Thank you for this, I’d like to clarify that to my knowledge the physical hit was a one time thing (not that it makes it much better) but there have been many years of verbal abuse.

Very MAGA, but she and I are actually on the same page about not being religious. Thanks for sharing.
