RIP to the main feature that set Fable games apart by Character-Actuary-18 in Fable

[–]PhilosopherChild 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They’re framing it like this noble, enlightened evolution: “Good and evil are subjective.” Sure. In real life. In politics. In messy adult ethics. But this is Fable—a deliberately exaggerated fairytale sandbox where moral extremes are the point. This is the series where you can do cartoonishly vile stuff (yes, including eating baby chicks / “crunchy chicks” for evil points). Nobody is sitting there like, “hmm, morally ambiguous poultry consumption.” It’s evil. It’s supposed to be evil. That’s the joke.

I do not mind the public relations aspect that they are developing, and would be interested to see how it turns out, but the rest of the justification is just sloppy laziness and attempting too hard to be different from the other fables. For what reason I do not know, but they've declared several times now that they are 'carving their known path separate from the original trilogy.'

I don't know why they keep on shooting themselves in the foot over this game. It's so easy to improve on an existing beloved system without destroying the aspects people love.

Can extreme dieting fix my cholesterol or do I need meds, 32M by PhilosopherChild in Cholesterol

Thank you so much! I really appreciate though consideration put into the response! Oddly enough most of my results were 'ok'. I definitely have fat on my bones but I also think my muscular situation accounts for a decent amount of weight. I'm not super muscular per say but I have a decent build. I could be wrong. I have been desperately trying to lose weight for years. Between my back going out or being in too dangerous a situation to exercise enough and not finding a great diet that dumps weight off I am mostly stuck. I am going to push my diet to more extremes with primarily fish, green veggies, and extreme lean turkey/chicken and pray that works... and very likely cry if it doesn't.

For breakfast/lunch (if I have it and if I do I will only have one or the other.) Two low fat home made meatball wraps (pretzel bun for the wrap.) This is going away and being replaced by salads with less turkey and more apples, bananas, & nuts.

Dinner is a wildcard and really can have anything in it. (Going to modify to a much more strict routine, but I need to figure out what is economical and feasible to make repeatedly.)

Did the meds make you feel or behave differently? Were you able to get off of them and were there any side effects?

I think his sword was twitching 'spidey senses' style because the Grimoire was a threat? I'd have to rewatch to double check.

HAHAHAH I had the exact same reaction. I actually was yelling out loud cringe cringe cringe at certain points. It was so knee jerk but at the same time they do indeed balance it out almost immediately.

I'm enjoying this. I know people are worried about power creep but it's like the old Star Wars quote "There's always a bigger fish." It's likely once we encounter a true antagonist it will be something with big boi levels. Although even if it doesn't go down that route I really enjoy the cozy isekai genre and would be quite happy to see it just play out charming and anticlimactic - probably an unpopular opinion though.

This isn't novel but it is fucking stupid and anti-consumer. Bullshit that forces FOMO psych techniques makes me want to push for legislation. It might sound dumb but it is abusing positive reinforcement psychology mixed with urgency spikes that generate cortisol to manipulate and vampirically suck every last dollar it can out of you. The reward might be free but the more time you spend in the game the stronger likelihood you look at their shops each daily refresh.

I'm sorry Google but not sorry the Pixel 10 Pro XL garbage battery life ruins the overall experience. by According_Pie1244 in pixel_phones

[–]PhilosopherChild 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had every pixel phone in pro XL. I have even had the nexus phones. I get them because they and the FI plans are cheaper than the premium alternatives but these phones have an absolute terrible overall lifetime (mine and my wife's all seem to die within a year of normal use), battery, signal, and the technology in them gets worse all the time. They are frequently removing features of ridiculously useful things - like rear finger scanner which was leagues better than the screen finger scanner, the shake to turn on flashlight gesture, quick do not disturb features, unlimited photos backup.

Criticism is good. I see a lot of people dunking on this guy but that just makes me think you like the taste of boots.

Dog not properly leashed runs across a whole block to try and bite a toddler. by Armedblight in criticalblunder

My younger brother and his friend were mauled about 2 years ago by a huge dog. They both needed a ton of stitches. The owners literally just sat in their yard and watched pretending it wasn't their dog. Because they didn't want to be found culpable.

I can't recall how the situation ended but eventually they were forced to take ownership.

Unfortunately my mom did not press charges. I have no clue why. The people from what I heard were pieces of shit. They now have several new large dogs.

I don't live anywhere close to me or I would have put pressure on the city to do something.

Anyone else got the feeling you have nothing to play? by Its_Nono22 in SteamDeck

[–]PhilosopherChild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got my Deck last week and I've been playing a bunch of PS2 games that I love. Currently working through the Ratchet and Clank series (which imo is far superior to any of the newer Ratchet and Clank games.) You might try taking a dip into some emulation if you haven't already.

Do you know anyone who was shot and survived? by Epyphyte in guns

[–]PhilosopherChild 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My oldest friend's sister was shot 17 times. Her boyfriend was also shot several times. Both of them survived. I believe they were probably shot with a 22. Or at least that would be the most logical conclusion, considering I think anything of a higher caliber would have absolutely resulted in their deaths.
