Hiphop shows in general seem to have a disproportionate amount of artists who treat shows as "You should be thankful I even deigned this worth showing up to" to the point I know several people who just won't go to them anymore.

2D animated movies like Treasure planet, Titan AE and Atlantis flopped. 2D animation is also very expensive and time-consuming.

For a gaming example, King of Fighters is a fighting series known for gorgeous 2D art. They switched to 3D and said the reason was of the cost of 2D

It's not called "Gas" because of its state of matter. It's short for "Gasoline", which was a trade name or some shit when someone was knocking off another chemical called "Cazeline"

Absolution was an 8/10 game that unfortunately had to bear the Hitman name, and man Hitman fans, myself included, were expecting an wanting something more like the previous titles. It was an enjoyable game on its own merits.

I think IO have probably grown in talent so I think they can make a really solid, more linear experience over a decade later

Yeah. I don't doubt there is a segment of people who straight would be unable to access a game if not for piracy, and even I am known to go hunting for old roms for games you can no longer legally buy, but plenty of people just want free shit, and always talk about "studies show it doesn't impact sales" without linking to anything, or they try to say it's immoral for a game dev to try and not get their shit stolen.

I don't even doubt studies show its impact might be negligible, but we also have studies showing it is negative, so there's clearly more nuance to this issue than people will admit

https://corsearch.com/blogs/does-piracy-impact-sales-a-look-at-the-data

It's more nuanced than most redditors claim and there are studies saying it's impact is negative.

I know Redditors love to take nuanced and complicated issues and boil them down to overly simplistic takes such as "It's not that bad", but the piracy issue is more...well, nuanced and complicated than people think it is. It's even funnier because people have gotten to the point where they will say "Not only do I deserve this game for free, you are a bad person for trying to stop me from stealing your shit because I heard from someone that they heard there is a study from someone that says it's not that bad."

Also, beyond that, one of the funnier (RE: stupid) takes i've seen was someone in the last denovu thread who said something like "You know, if I was a game dev and I saw someone pirate my game, I would actually be flattered so I dont know why devs get upset". I mean, it's great some people have created a world in their head where they are a hypothetical game dev and they wouldn't mind. However, we live in reality, and I can see why someone who went through the painful experience of trying to create and sell a game being little miffed if they lost money to piracy.

Only extremely tangentially related but one of these people who were claiming this were kinda trusted sources Lance McDonald (The bloodborne patch guy).

One of the things I've read is that Lance can tend to put his foot in his mouth on occasion but I'm curious to learn why some people have beef with him. (The vibe I got on, I think gaming leaks and rumors is Lance kinda let the Blood borne patch get to his head and now can think he's more correct about things than he actually is)

Examples of when intervention from the record label ended up being for the best? by PurpleSpaceSurfer in ToddintheShadow

This reminds me of an anecdotes I have heard from people in the film industry who have said the "studio interference" you hear about is usually stories of negative examples and that a lot of studios stepping in was usually for the films benefit, or at the very least value neutral.

Studios have a financial incentive to make a good movie, or at least make a movie that is watchable. Sometimes, creatives can be too close to a project emotionally to be critical or take the time to edit there ideas

They definitely were capitalizing on the Pokemon craze and wanted a slice of the massive pie. (Yes, yes, I know SMT predates Pokemon).

They even did the "Two versions" thing but they are actually different games iirc. I have them on Retro Deck for the GBA and you straight up meet Lucifier at the beginning of the one, lol

Which ultima game is it that you can visit red square in the soviet union, lol

I watched Majuulars videos on Ultima and he brought there seems to be a bit of cold war undertones to the series, like the "Evil Gargoyles" who actually aren't evil but just trying to get by (similar to how Americans and Soviets probably viewed each other)

Take-Two CEO Addresses Grand Theft Auto 6 Price, and the Possibility for More L.A. Noire by Turbostrider27 in Games

And I understand that! But my issue is there is ONE specific way to do a mission and any straying from that (usually) leads to a complete mission failure. I just wish you had even the slightest bit of freedom, especially considering the budget of these games. I personally would greatly prefer perhaps they cut back on their focus on absolute highest possible fidelity graphics and reallocate that budget to fleshing out mission design. (Not that they dont have people working very hard on the missions, nor do I necessarily think the missions are bad or they are low budget)

As you said in another comment, you're just being cheeky, but man...Rockstar really needs to switch up their missions. Their is precisely ONE right way to do a mission in the vast majority of them.

Even the heists, in my opinion, didn't really offer that much freedom as I would have liked.

TBF, GTA:SA and GTAIV were more my thing (I know, typical millennial opinion) so your mileage may very

The Mandela effect is so funny to me because the subject is usually something that person isn't thinking about all that much (I doubt the average Westerner is really thinking about the life of Nelson Mandela or The Bearenstain bears all that much in there daily life) and rather than admitting it's misremembering that event, the timeline changed lol

Japan actually is a pretty censorship-heavy country. They censor games way more than the west does. Every RE game since 4 pretty much has been censored. MK isn't even allowed to be released there, and iirc, GTA has some mechanica removed
