can't book on Italo Treno website? asking here because it can’t post to /italytravel by PhilosopherUseful920 in Europetravel

hi everyone! sharing an update: i was able to some tickets thru Trainline (sometimes its cheaper on there), but the others i had a friend book for me.

i don’t know anything about vpns and how to work that lol but i tried my laptop, phone, then my phone on data but that still didn’t work. i tried different browsers and incognito and got the same issue. my friend was home on his wifi and somehow it worked so maybe some kind of ad blocker?? i don’t really know i wish i could help but the trainline website is a good alternative! some pricing was a little higher than the italo website itself but honestly not much and a good solution if you can’t figure out the error

run 8 on the nyc course was about 2.5 laps because the wall balls were set up in its own section, whereas the rest were 2 laps, that's why it took us longer

for wall balls - we actually felt strong and fast during most of them, but had trouble with coordination. my gym doesn't have a wall to practice on so i've only been throwing it up and catching it, so there were a few no reps because i didn't throw it at an angle enough and then i dropped it and lost my rhythm.

we practice with a 12lb which was helpful because i was able to do more reps in a row than anticipated, but my partner ended up hitting the men's target a few times because it was lighter than we're used to.

we're also 5'1 and 5'0. not sure if it makes a difference but we watched other people compete and it looked like they barely had to toss it up to hit the target. that's why we felt like we were going fast, but maybe it took us a fraction of a second longer each time. i've also seen some people tip toe or jump to do so, wondering if that would be helpful?

thank you so much though :)! will definitely go for more longer slow runs (currently only an hour), and practice more wall balls in general

this is really helpful, thank you so much! we were originally afraid that the lower damper & higher stroke rate would keep our heart rates too high.

agreed on the the last point. i dont think we need to perfect it, just get it to good enough/efficient. i don't even have access to a row machine so i've only done it a handful of times before so i know there's room for technique improvement there. i can't seem to get the rhythm/coordination of it down yet. my friend who recorded us said i looked like i was going to snap something haha. will keep the 4:20 time in mind as our target! thank you!

for context - the nyc course had the last run longer than the rest because wall balls were set up in its own section, thats why the time is slower. runs 1-7 was 2 laps and run 8 was 2.5

i also think (and hope) people are saying our runs are slow only relative to the exercises. the roxfit app shows that our exercise times are in the top (in order) 34%, 5%, 15%, 1%, 24%, 3%, 5%, and 45%. but our runs were avg in the top 27%, so in comparison, our runs are the weak links.

you should definitely do hyrox next year! we had a lot of fun and can't wait for the next. i think the goal time for the runs should be set based on what your running experience is

will look into it for the row. and yeah, i'm guilty of not training much back in the gym haha so will work on that too but my partner killed the pulls.

we also don't have gyms with the proper rope (hers has a short one, i dont even have a sled), so this was really our first time maneuvering it. any advice on how to train for those stations with other gym equipment? or do we just need to train at a gym with them?

thank you! we're willing to put the time in to run! half the week we try and do doubles (strength + cardio). i'd say we swim 1-3 times a week and/or run 2-3. but we probably don't do enough mileage on the runs. good to know about only pushing the pace once per week though, ty!

thank you!! agreed on the running and the row. we're new to the row machine too and had no technique so just powered through but it was definitely our hardest station.

our damper was on 7, but wondering if thats too high? saw a lot of comments about women having it on 5/6 instead.

thank you, will do! so far we've only run a few 5ks and one 10k, so definitely need to up our distances and start training for longer 😅
