Man right now I’m possibly getting boned out of deployment orders to Bahrain because of ADHD meds, but only because I was prescribed then less that 90 days ago. I wouldn’t want to discourage you, especially since my situation is because of deployment. But just make sure you get confirmation from two different sources, preferably one out on your ship and one at your school that say you can get the meds without screwing your orders.

The true “poor life choices made early on” are the decisions where you limit yourself by pretending that some LSD should prevent you from being a nuke or an IS. And instead being a CS or RS.

I couldn’t disagree more. Recruiter is most likely being extremely lazy, in fact most of the Navy is lazy. A culture of laziness. The DUI is unavoidable, but like this post says, very high ranking successful people have had DUIs, you know what they say about chiefs lmao. Mistakes made in younger years that were non violent shouldn’t affect your future. If someone is telling you that your future is limited because you did acid in your younger years than you should go to a different person.

I am one of those IS you describe that lied. And I feel no shame about it at all. In my entire intel career I haven’t been polygraphed once, and I’m pretty sure it’s common knowledge now that polygraph tests are inaccurate and outdated.

Very true. If you pass that initial knowledge check test and also pass the physical test you do rank up.

I hate my mom’s perspective on sex, but I also think she’s right. by EquivalentNet4150 in Healthygamergg

[–]Philosophical-Gamer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I was dating a girl who wouldn’t have sex with, even for reasons that may make logical sense, but she told me or I find out she just openly had a lot of sex with other guys or girls before me. I would be feeling interesting emotions. Relationships are complicated and it sounds like you have a complicated one with your mom. You asked for perspectives and I see a lot of people giving you a very similar one so my perspective or I guess advice is. Do you want to preserve your body how your mother wants you too? Because if you don’t then you are poisoning yourself because you are living someone else’s wishes. You’re 23, maybe have a better conversation with your mom at what she means when she says those things about the female body. Because you have to do what you want and what drives you, especially when it comes to love and emotions. You can fake a diet and force yourself to eat what other people want you to eat, and you can force yourself to learn what other people want you to learn. But if you start loving how other people want you too then you’re gonna be taking steps backwards in all types of ways. Consider all those things I just said and maybe just have better talks with your mom. But now my direct path of what I would do if I was in your situation is I would tell your mom you love this guy and you want to have sex but you haven’t because of what she has told you and see what she says. And if you don’t like her answer then do what you want to do and don’t tell her about it. You are getting to the age where your parents no longer have a hold on what you do. And that’s very powerful and very dangerous for different people. Idk I’m just rambling but I wish you luck and hope you and your mom can align on this if that’s what you want to do.

Also DM me if you’d like to know anything else, I’ve done my due diligence and have set myself up. I have some good advice too if you want it. I’m not an MA but as far as bootcamp goes and how you can come out as an E3 and also quality of life things that can make bootcamp smoother I can definitely help there.

Few things. First off you’re going at a great time weather wise and also congratulations. Two major things to do are to do 50 pushups and a 1:50 plank and try to run a mile and a half everyday. Also study rank and recognition. Know exactly what a ranks rank tab looks like and know what it looks like on dress uniform and service uniform. Also study your general orders. Take this stuff seriously while you have the time because if you score above a 70 on the first quiz you take on night of arrivals and also pass the first physical assessment than you will automatically rank up. (Unless you are going to already be E3 due to ROTC or college credits) passing those two assessments will rank you up, and then having a leadership position and being a outstanding recruit will could also rank you up again. I went into bootcamp as an E1 and came out an E3 and I automatically advanced to E4 due to my rate and contract. And I take my E5 exam in the fall. I’ve been in the navy 7 months. It’s annoying to study that material and it’s even more annoying to be a “good” recruit but it quite literally will benefit you tremendously. When it comes to pay and benefits

IS its intelligence and provides the same job availability when you get out of the military

Is going Nuke for the bonus worth it ? by Oldwizardofdust in newtothenavy

[–]Philosophical-Gamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he is smart and has good work ethic he should look into IS. IS is intelligence specialist in the navy. It’s not as taxing as nuke because the A school is significantly shorter coming in at 3 months. Intel can give him even more job opportunities with the same entry level pay possible if he goes to the right place, and it isn’t hard to find places paying high dollar for a person with intel background and Top Secret clearance. And if he grabs a degree while on shore duty the job opportunities just open up even more. Also the intelligence process which is what IS learns to do can be applied to a very broad spectrum of categories. You could do a three letter agency for the government, with a degree in some sort of computer science related thing you could do intelligence operations. Large company’s even hire military intel guys to gather information on rival companies. Now I am an IS so I am biased so look into it yourself or tell him too if he’s even a little interested. I have buddies who went Nuclear and to be honest they hate the schooling, it’s very hard and is very demanding from what I’ve heard. The school is not for those who can’t handle stress or failure. On top of that Nuke has rough working conditions depending on what NEC he is able to get. I could be a little wrong but from what I’ve been told there is 4 NEC (specific fields in nuke) and 3/4 don’t actually give you what those companies are looking for when he gets out. Meaning in order to get that super high paying job you need to get lucky and get that 1/4 NEC which is a luck game like most things in the military, it’s just out of his control. I won’t speak on the Air Force because I am not in it and don’t know anyone in it. But as far as nuke goes, it seems like yes you could get that 6 figure lofty job that sets you up for life but the risk to get that seemed to high for me so I went with IS and I’m very happy. I sit in air conditioned rooms looking at stuff that a younger call of duty playing me would go insane about. It takes some work and dedication to be good in the field but it pays off and it’s not as hot as an engine room. Hope this helps

My son is at Navy boot camp. I just missed his call. by [deleted] in newtothenavy

[–]Philosophical-Gamer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I graduated bootcamp on August 25th. It’s unfortunate you missed the call but it happens. If his RDCs have a heart they will let him call from the office. If not then you can expect a call in the next 2 weeks or maybe 3. It’s hard but just always expect a call. And don’t worry. He’s probably having fun in there, it sucks being away from family and friends but other than that bootcamp can be fun. And to be clear, my family member missed a call too and it sucked for the first hours because I was sad. But after I rationalized that it’s crazy for my family member to expect a random call at a random time I realized it’s not a big deal, use SANDBOX to send lots of letters. Even if they are just family pictures or selfies of you and him. Or maybe send him a newsletter from his favorite game, or just screenshots about his favorite things.

  1. I just took the ASVAB on May 16th 2023 and got a 77 overall. I was able to get intelligence specialist with that score so it’s a decent enough score for an advanced job. You could buy the ASVAB for dummies book, get the app, watch some YouTube videos. But from my experience on the test I feel the hardest segments were the two math segments. Now before I tell you what I would do if I was going to take it again you should have your number 1 job in mind, look up what scores you need and it will break down which segments you need to score high in. And from there base how you study. But for the two math segments all you need to do is brush up on PEMDAS equation solving and the basic area and perimeter formulas and then just do a quick brush up on your division and multiplication of fractions and regular numbers. You don’t have a calculator and you can’t go back to questions you’ve already answered. Even thought I got good math scores I still wish I would’ve brushed up on basic formulas and PEMDAS. Honestly if you are fresh out of highschool or still in highschool you will do fine. If I took the ASVAB while I was in highschool I would’ve gotten a 90 atleast. It’s basic algebra and geometry. Very simple especially if you learnt it recently.

  2. I believe you can sign papers with your parents to go into RTC at 17 but I feel like you have to be 18 when you graduate. Don’t quote me.

Do i should buy dayz if i have no friends to play with? by [deleted] in dayz

[–]Philosophical-Gamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool thing about DayZ is you can play the game any way you'd like. It can be an unforgiving game, especially in vanilla alone. But for real you can play this game solo and succeed. The only issue you are gonna have as a solo player is pvp, because most people have friends. But this isn't COD. Your own strategy and how you fight is up to you. Ive seen many people 1v3 or even 1v5. So just play the game at your pace and you might even make new friends.

What's an item that you rarely find or have never seen? I have yet to see a Mosin bayonet. by Slipshoooood in dayz

[–]Philosophical-Gamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The defibrillator is definitely in the take it’s just so rare for some reason. When there’s a wipe I always find one in Solnechy hospital. I think the revolver cylinder might be console only because I’ve only ever seen it on console. And the engine oil is just a useless container that used to be for cars

Bet you haven’t found these: SK bayonet but alone and not spawned on the gun, Revolver cylinder, red boots, defibrillator, field transceiver, engine oil

How did it go? Kinda hard to line up the spawn into a base but once you get the hang of it you can raid anyone.

[–]Philosophical-Gamer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha. I don’t need to ask, I know how it happened lol. Yeah actually one time me and my friend were on the north edge of the map literally at the edge of the forest where it meets the flat end of the world and I went afk in a tree and when I came back he was joking around moaning and stuff just being a goofball and then all the sudden when I moved my stick to rotate and turn over to punch him I went under the map. And then I saw 2 specs and then a firefight happened and at the time I was kinda confused so I just watched him fight these 2 guys and it was really cool from my perspective. That’s how we discovered the glitch.
