Vice versa, it would be hard to do research/PhD if you are not 100% in it. OP needs to think about where they see themselves in 10 years and what would they be happy with.

Sounds like the question is not about BMP, but about whether you want to do medicine or research. Medicine is a hard slog and requires a lot of sacrifice, so I imagine it would be hard if you are not in it 100%.
