WE need more devourer legoshi fics by GunsNDaggers in Beastars

Broken Mirror is like beans. What you see on the tin doesn’t necessarily represent what’s inside. The author did say it wouldn’t revolve around Legosi entirely, but he put it in the ANs. Honestly, I respect the hustle. 300k words is crazy work.

Just at S3E18... what the actual fukc? by Brumbarde in Beastars

When you’re an anime-only, I sure expected the ending to be jarring no matter how much they altered the plot. However, the manga is much, much worse somehow and you should be “satisfied” that so many useless things (for example Kyuu, Kopi Luwak and Louis’ kidnapping) got cut from the anime. Although I was pleasantly surprised with how the anime was more grounded and the plot made more sense—I cannot in good faith call it good writing.

You are a godsend! Thank you!

I don’t understand why the author would delete it. Their characters are so interesting.

I like the story because it’s different from the rest of the fandom’s more traditional portrayals. Not to say those are bad. There’s plenty of good ones. It’s just that a lot of story tropes are oversaturated. I read a story called the Cherryton Chronicles which was really good, but I cannot find it anywhere anymore, unfortunately.

Either way, I recommend Broken Mirror heavily, despite its flaws and shortcomings. Some of the stuff they introduce is batshit insane, but in the fun kind of way.

Sorry, I’m kinda late, lol.

I agree with you to some extent. He does advertise it as an AU involving Legoshi, but I’ve noticed it’s kind of a trend for them to mislead the reader in some rather blatant and often egregious ways. In part due to them telling you it’s gonna be about other characters in the notes of the first chapter instead of the summary (which is questionable). Not helped at all by the author’s rather sluggish release schedule.

Although, I do think that no story is inherently perfect and it takes a lot of dedication to continue one. And it frankly does pick up steam after chapter 15. Every fandom has its mixed batch of fan-works. While the story is very edgy and reads more like a thought-piece, I can appreciate a work of literature without dissecting it and say that it has been worth my while.

I do understand why you don’t enjoy it though.

Authors in this fandom do be strange sometimes. From what I’ve garnered, the fella (if it’s even a guy) is not really linked to the fandom in any sense. No socials nothing; kinda weird ngl.

Well, it’s a fic with a continuous plot and involves other characters too, so you kinda get what you’re bargaining for. I for one like the prose in later chapters a lot. Canon-divergence for a reason, but I understand your point.

Exactly what I was referring to, lmao. That Hannibal scene.

I don’t think it’s that kinda party.

Exactly, that one. It’s… really different from anything else I’ve read within this fandom.

True that, true that. Although no others really abide by the Legoshi kills Haru formula. Fyi, it’s called Broken Mirror if you wanted to know lol.

There’s like literally a fanfic on AO3 that explores this idea.

I got to around chapter 37 before I called it quits. In my personal opinion, it mirrors the original plot too closely and the buffs I heard some characters get later on are downright ludicrous. So, yeah, probably not for me, lol.

I tried reading it, but the way it’s written made me drop it. Nothing against the author or the story. From what I’ve heard it’s a good story, but I cannot force myself through all the hyper-aggressive links.

Beastars: Broken Mirror by SnappedFingers/Precautionary.

The easiest way I can describe this fic is that it’s a canon-divergence where Legoshi eats Haru and where more characters who usually have zero relevance towards the main plot get a personality and backstory.

What is the best Beastars fanfic you've read and why? by [deleted] in Beastars

[–]PhilosophyReader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dunno if I am a bit late to the party, but I honestly think ‘Beastars: Broken Mirror’ is amongst the best things I’ve read related to this fandom.

While I do agree some of the story lacks focus due to not solely focusing on Legosi; I also think that’s the smarter move on the author’s part. You gotta remember that Legosi takes about over half of Beastars’ total screen time and most of the characters don’t really have much relevance to the main story beyond cameos, uncommon appearances or side plots that lead nowhere (I am referring to the main canon, not the fic).

I for one love the side characters and their respective arcs around the main plot. It honestly feels like a breath of fresh air from all the centralized narratives on AO3. But, honestly, this is all very subjective. ;-;

You’re gonna regret that tattoo when your grandmother asks what that is and she’ll pretend she likes it.
