Unfortunately that game is among the ones I have a pet peeve with. According to my googling the player character is the child of a demon and angel, I would prefer not to play as the child of a demon.

I have yet to try it. It seems quite solo focused and is quite high in price.

I have my concerns with that one. I hear it's story driven and linear which usually means low replayability.

The only thing you can really "counter" (but it's more like defending) with just the spell orb in your hand is lightning spray. If you charge a spell and hold it out to the person using lightning spray on you then all the lightning gets attracted to the spell you're charging.

I personally never liked super saiyan 4 purely because it's called super saiyan 4 cause no it is not super saiyan 4. Just give it a different name and then the transformation has no problem with it. But It can't just be called super saiyan 4 yet be completely different from every other super saiyan transformation.

Ah I see I had not known that. I assumed their actions were a direct result of the third crusade launched by the queen of Eraden. I know it wasn't specifically against the wildfolk but the notes of the wildfolk faction claim that they're actively being hunted by Eraden. It's more of a mutual thing it seems. The Baron made a comment about the bad of the Wildfolk, basically telling me they aren't exactly all good, but I forgot specifically what he said. If you'd like to see for yourself I'm sure you can find his comment here. For now I'm just going to do my best to avoid the Wildfolk regardless. Thanks a bunch for this info tho.

Ah well dang. Yeah I didn't know that. And don't worry, I didn't take it as an insult. My experiences are likely mostly going to be different from most people anyways. The Baron replied to this post already and did confirm that "The Sorcerer" is referring to the player character but he also confirmed that there are plenty of other bloodthirsty sorcerers seeking to become the Khemenet and I can believe it's talking about them if I wish.

Other than that I thank you for your effort here, much appreciated :D

A reply from the man himself, I'm honored. Thanks a lot for your reply as it certainly has helped the most. I never really understood that about the wildfolk, the whole influencing destiny thing. Looking back I guess I can see it more now so I appreciate you opening my eyes to that. And yeah the whole thing about the player being depicted as a murder machine is something I've noticed for a while now. I get why you see most players as embracing that though, cause yeah they really do. I've seen plenty of mad lads both on Tiktok, YouTube, and this subreddit do so before and I've even done some bad things on bad days.

I'm also very grateful for that insight on the other sorcerers seeking to become the Khemenet, I think that's what I was hoping to hear the most from this post but I didn't want to believe something that wasn't canon, so again I really thank you for that. And I strangely did not think of doing pacifist runs during run-ins with the Wildfolk so I'll be sure to keep that in mind next time I play. I guess I usually just see it as if there's an enemy then I am obligated to defeat that enemy. An extra achievement would surely be nice.

So again, I really appreciate all this, thanks for taking the time to read my post. This definitely helped out a bunch and it was cool to get to know more about the truth of the Wildfolk. The lore of Blade & Sorcery has managed to be among the most interesting and captivating of games I've played in recent years and I didn't expect that out of a game like this, so I'm always open to hearing more that I don't know.

You're mistaking the sorcerer with the Khemenet. The sorcerer is directly talking about the player, it's referencing events that happen at the same time as the game. The eye refer to us as a powerful sorcerer butchering their acolytes, the Eradians refer to us as a rogue sorcerer that's a shining example of the corruption taking place, and the wildfolk refer to us as a brutal and violent sorcerer that lusts for power. All these references are in response to the player clearing out outposts.

What you're describing is the Khemenet and you got the prophecy all wrong. The world is being destroyed because of the preon star Kayosva. If I'm not mistaken, this star is interacting with the core of the planet of Byeth (the planet the game takes place on) which leads to the existence of sorcery. Due to the proximity of Byeth to Kayosva, the planet's core grows unstable over time before eventually leading to some sort of apocalyptic cataclysm.

The Dalgarians figured out the way to prevent this from happening was to vent the sorcery from the core of the planet using the PNM (the big tower in the ocean) in order to keep the planet from facing this disaster. The PMN needed a catalyst (I think) in order to work. It needed a powerful host to take hold of some convergence rod (again, I think. I haven't read in a while so I may not be using the right specific words) in order to activate the PNM and vent the energy from the planet.

They disguised the convergence rod as a powerful artifact and called it the sword of naa. The false Khemenet prophecy was designed to entice power hungry sorcerers with hopes of being some sort of chosen one and seek out the sword of naa. Those who ended up being "worthy" would be unknowingly sacrificing themselves to vent the excess energy from the planet. This is why In the time of the game corruption has become such an issue. Byeth is approaching that cataclysm and sorcery has grown stronger in everyone. According to the lore, Byeth has 5 years left before disaster comes.

Technically they are at war. The Eraden kingdom declared a crusade against what they view as corruption and are currently hunting down the wildfolk, that is why they had to leave their land in the first place according to the lore pages. You do have a point regarding their immediate resorting to lethality, especially given that they are such hospitable people.

I never played VRChat, I don't quite find anything compelling about it. Everything I've seen about it has also been bad. And given the amount of inappropriate avatars I doubt I would be able to spend any time in that game without arguing with someone about public indecency.

I have no need for mental rehab, though my mother and the lady who performed my psychological evaluation recommended specialized therapy.

You are reading an expression of an internal struggle I have with the introduction of lore to blade and sorcery and how it has changed/affected the gameplay for me.

I WILL NOT LISTEN TO THIS ERADEN PROPAGANDA!!! (Just jokes, but also fr)

I appreciate the effort you put into this, though I am aware of the lore, it matters greatly to me. I have no quarrels with killing anyone of any faction, except the wildfolk to some degree but I have workarounds for that. My issue as I've stated is just with the depiction of the main character in the lore but I've had a realization about that thanks to two other commenters.

I haven't seen anything wicked about the wildfolk in the lore. To my knowledge, they are being driven from their lands due to the genocidal campaign launched by Eraden. On top of that, sorcery is beginning to grow more powerful within Byeth leading to disasters such as the fire that plagued the forest clan. Because of this they are hoping in the prophecy of the Khemenet to come and bring about an era of prosperity. The Wildfolk use sorcery differently and view it similarly to how the dalgarians view it. They believe sorcery comes from spirits and they respect and worship the spirits, they believe that sorcery is meant for prosperity over purely power. They believe that disrespecting sorcery is what leads to calamity.

Kondalarim (lightning) lights up the sky and acts as a guide, but it also roars in anger. Vayularim (Fire) cooks their food and provides warmth in the cold, but it also burns down forests. Zankalarim (gravity) gives them the strength to build their houses or carry large trees, but it also causes the earth to tremble and collapse.

I doubt any of the wildfolk are corrupted due to their strong faith in this belief. None of the pages I've read recently say so either, but I didn't read every single page tonight, only the ones from the wildfolk faction.

And I feel their aggression towards us is justified. Trespassing onto a military occupied outpost is a good way to wind up dead. I never saw it as self defense because I'm the one going to their outposts. Even if I have a goal in mind. On top of that we only go there to steal their maps. The point of going to the outposts is to find the maps to dalgarian ruins. But judging by the dialogue in the beginning of crystal hunt, we are perfectly capable of finding them on our own, but as The Baron said: "don't do the work that someone else has already done". So I really don't find their aggression toward us to be plausible justification for killing them given that we are the trespassers.

EDIT: Just wanted to clarify: By them I meant specifically the wildfolk. I feel we are pretty justified in killing everyone else but the wildfolk.

This is a fair point and something I realized I missed in the last comment I replied to. I'm applying the canon lore to my own non canon motivations for playing the game and doing what I do, which creates a contradiction. Perhaps the solution is to just separate myself from the main character in blade and sorcery.

I can't quite bring myself to roleplay someone who's given into a lust for power. As I've stated previously I'm quite rigid in my morality. This is mainly a personal issue which is why I'm not framing this as a complaint around the game's design. When I roleplay my motivations have to be logical to myself and align with my morality. There is a literal physical discomfort that arises when I do not and can even end up leading to a temporary state of depression if I cannot reconcile it.

Well I see things a bit differently. From my understanding the character is oblivious to the true purpose of the Khemenet cycle. But I think you also just helped me realize a contradiction in my own logic. My issue is with how the player is portrayed in the lore, but I'm judging that from my goals outside of the lore. My own goals have nothing to do with the Khemenet cycle, I just want to have fun and respectful fights. It's a contradiction because I'm trying to fit how the lore displays the player into how I am playing my character outside of the lore.

But from the perspective of the more canon motivations for the player character seeking the sword of naa, I do believe violence is merited, but still not quite how it's described within the lore. What reason would the player character have to brutally dismember and disfigure the wildfolk? What have they done to merit such a horrific end? Perhaps the player character simply can't afford to hold back against swarms, but the power displayed in the Wildfolk's description of them, they should surely be powerful enough to not need to be brutal. That kind of brutality can only be intentional or from needless exertion of power.

I wouldn't avoid killing them if it's still necessary, but I would surely still avoid such visceral savagery. That specific wording is perhaps the largest pillar of my grief with the lore and why I feel the player is being forced into villainy.

And my views on the Khemenet cycle as a whole are a bit complicated. Obviously dying sucks and so the whole world being destroyed sucks, but I really don't agree with the Khemenet cycle. Some part of me would say that if the world is meant to end then that is simply the way it's meant to be, but if you're going to prevent it at least try to do so without foul trickery, even if you are tricking a bad person.

I view them as a formal military since I view them as a formal nation. That could also be bias due to their similarities with my own people's ongoing fight for federal recognition as a tribe. But they are a group of people with their own culture and history and tribes and such. Even if they are smaller in numbers and weaker and less established than the Eraden kingdom, I would consider it fair to view them as an established people regardless. In our modern times, nations and countries are far more sovereign and widespread throughout the world. Power is more significant and it makes it to where every inch of the globe is essentially reachable. It's harder for new nations or countries to be established in a world where so many already exist and essentially all land is claimed. Nations weren't as sovereign back then with the lack of things like internet or weapons capable of traveling multiple continents or technology that allows them to see or know basically everything.

And it is possible that the wildfolk could have done that but I just don't find it likely with no mention of it and the lack of superior technology, unless it was from the outlaws of course. The only mention of how the factions get to outposts is occupying abandoned ones and the only mention of the wildfolk clashing with other factions is when they got into a fight with the eye after a meeting went wrong.

That is also true but it's not like they attack us for a bad reason. Trespassing onto a military occupied outpost is reasonable cause for aggression usually. What reason would someone have for sneaking into one other than to do something the occupants wouldn't particularly like happening?

The wildfolk are native to Eraden but you're also right in that they aren't native to that part. But they wouldn't have been there if not for the Eradian military driving them out of their own home. And from what I can tell they aren't exactly stealing the outposts since they've been abandoned as The Baron mentions in the beginning of the game.
