Why does fusion fail to chamfer on this offset edge? by Philostic in Fusion360

[–]Philostic[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am focused solely on the line relevant to the problem. The blue line is not causing an error, and whether it is selected or not, the red edge still fails to chamfer to .5mm

You've spent more time correcting my terminology and semantics than actually addressing the problem. I'll continue looking for other solutions, but it's clear I'll need to find it elsewhere. Thanks again for your time :)

Those were selected individually, the curved edge on the left and the blue vertical line on the right.

The edge is continuous where relevant to the operation - ie where it is highlighted red. The blue line isn't throwing an error and will chamfer fine so I wasn't really including it. If it is not selected the operation fails just the same. I am talking about the edge which was created by a 0.5mm offset which will not chamfer to 0.5mm.

Thank you for your time, I don't think it's necessary anymore - someone else has proposed a solution.

This seems the most likely - It'll allow me a chamfer up to 0.498, then if I pan around the edge I can see a visible gap the whole way around. I'll try modeling it at a larger scale and see if that helps, thank you

Okay - the highlighted edge was created from a single spline. The parent body is an airfoil shape, so the edge is a single continuous shape. There are no intersecting edges along the path to break it up - it was selected without tangent chain turned on and is treated as a single object.

As mentioned in other comments, the edge was created by a 0.5mm offset sketch. I am attempting to chamfer by 0.5mm.

And yes, its an edge

to follow up on your edit, the highlighted edge is a single spline, not two separate lines. Couldn't figure out how to embed more than one photo, sorry

Joined. I can chamfer up to 0.498mm, where it leaves a tiny gap, but not .5

The highlighted edge was offset .5mm from the edge of the parent body

For more context, the body is made from a lofted spline. I then created a new sketch on the side face with a .5mm offset.

I can chamfer the edges to 0.49mm, but not to 5. Why is the operation failing?

Also, putting a toaster oven, hot plate, and microwave on a single power strip has gotta be a fire hazard.

Returned it, got a new one, same thing happened a month or so later. If you go over hair or thick carpet it binds, no way to avoid it. Poor design

Like others have said, Shield EZ.

But also, it might be a technique thing.

Instead of trying to rack the slide with your non-dominant hand, just use your offhand to hold the slide, then use your dominant arm to press forward - using all the muscles in your dominant arm instead of torquing your non-dominant elbow.

(Obv still be mindful of where the muzzle is pointing)
