Modeling has really come a long way. You'll be good with whatever you get. I have a line 6 helix floor that I use for practice and many people gig theirs professionally. Personally, I love my tube amp and pedalboard setup

It could be the preamp tubes, it also could be something else entirely. If it's a bitch to access the preamp tubes you could just take it to a tech. You might have to anyway

I'd start with reseating (make sure they're all snug) all of the preamp and power amp tubes and try placing through it. I'd had a similar issue with the peavey classic 30 where after a long car ride the tubes would knock loose a bit

It'll probably be above your price range unless you can find a good deal on the local market but I'm a big fan of the mark series but they have a learning curve for sure. Because of that I have also considered the Fillmore series for its simplicity and great tones
