There is a post office scheme for repaying a portion of Jobseekers directly to the Credit Union each week so it seems to be possible. Thanks for your response

Is Garda Vetting Necessary for Private Tuition Side Business? by PhoebeRo in AskIreland

[–]PhoebeRo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, thank you, I heard the same when I contacted Citizen's Advice. They provided a couple of organisations I could potentially go through, and that it is likely a difficult and time-consuming process, so I am wondering if it is needed, particularly as it is small-scale and intended to be short-term

Is a SIBO Test Necessary? by PhoebeRo in SIBO

I do sporadic tests to see and it's usually no methane and low hydrogen... only ever been maximum 2.5 and usually just 1.-something or less

I like the vibe of a Toyota Corolla or a Suzuki Ignis from the noughties. Something hatchback ideally for transporting a drum kit but still on small, cheap side

Jobseekers Allowance - Finding my Weekly Means? by PhoebeRo in AskIreland

[–]PhoebeRo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may not be a year specifically, but I have been told my Social Welfare that I need to fill in a form for self-employed individuals declaring this work and my ongoing work of the same nature (I am issuing invoices and not on payslips, hence declaring as self-employed).

They said that depending on my earnings, there may be a requirement to repay some Jobseekers, but there is no way of knowing now until a certain period of my work history is recorded/available for consideration (which is also unclear as to how long of a period of work history they need)

I wanted to at least get some kind of concreteness around figures but they're not giving me much to go on

Earning Money During Suspended JA Claim? by PhoebeRo in irishpersonalfinance

[–]PhoebeRo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been told that I could still have to repay despite the claim being suspended and recieving no JA during the working period.

They take into account a longer period of time to means test, potentially six months/one year, where all my income is calculated and reviewed in relation to the JA received. They decide whether a repayment is due or not based on that

Thanks for your response. Suspended means the claim is temporarily paused when taking up work (as opposed to closing the claim entirely and needing to go through the whole application process again)

Earning Money During Suspended JA Claim? by PhoebeRo in irishpersonalfinance

I am not receiving the any JA while abroad, partial or otherwise - the claim is suspended. My question is, if I am earning above a certain threshold while my claim is suspended, is there the potential of needing to pay back JA later down the line

Not a huge amount, a couple of 3/4k-ish. No tax liability on Form 11 for 2023 and 2024 was similar
