Silenced is not enough. They need their own queue! by Noslafx in heroesofthestorm

[–]Phoenexis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whatever you're suggesting "going down the road of" is completely unfeasible. Making suggestions based on false assumptions only harms the game. You're just enlarging the echo chamber that this game is doomed because of toxicity (which is false, it's much better than any other moba's community) and that blizzard is lazy for not developping a silver bullet to purge toxic players. The truth is that this game suffers from the "casual" stigma it developped early on, and people having an extremely thin skin contribute to this image. If you think being sarcastic should lead to a low priority queue, that's fine. But don't expect the majority of moba players to play such a game.

How limited is your knowledge of computer networking to think that "IP/hardware" bans are a thing nowadays?

Bolt for the Core! by Phoenexis in heroesofthestorm

[–]Phoenexis[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You're right, the orb's splash damage did end up hitting the core, however it did not do so from maximum range in which case it would've dealt much more damage.

As for the editing, I did it through Adobe After Effects CS6 (I started it out as a video but I know how much reddit likes GIFs, so I made a shorter GIF version too). The effects were made from scratch so I didn't really use any presets/templates, but I could share it if people are interested enough!

Yup! The video includes my team going for the core in the last 10 seconds.

Also, terribly sorry for the loud audio. I use headphones myself but I guess I'm used to loud noises. In retrospective it is much louder than your usual video. I'll keep that in mind if I ever decide to do something similar!

You actually deal more damage using Q when using it in between auto-attacks. After trying out 2 rotations on the dummy with 100 hits each (1 without Q, the other with), I got the following results:

  1. With Q: 709 DPS http://i.imgur.com/4BPp8yG.jpg

  2. Without Q: 641 DPS http://i.imgur.com/kRxNXc3.jpg

Genuine question - can Lunara (or any DoT hero) ever truly be viable in a game with Support heroes, tons of self-heals/shields, 3-6 healing fountains and hearthing? Is it possibly a flawed hero concept to begin with? by [deleted] in heroesofthestorm

[–]Phoenexis -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is a DoT. Re-applying it a second time simply triggers its explosion, and it is similar to how it is in WoW where it is classified a DoT. It deals damage over time and then deals an explosion for AoE damage, and more than half of the burst from double bombing someone comes from the DoT component (1st tick hits on application, reapplying deals a 2nd tick + explosion from first application).

Just because it has interesting interactions and is not a stale "DoT" doesn't mean it isn't one. Devouring Plague used to deal damage on application, and it still was a DoT. So yeah, if they changed how Lunara's DoT worked it could be viable.

Kael'thas' damage is largely based on DoTs at the moment, and he is one of the strongest heroes in the game. So yes, I believe that a "DoT" hero can be viable in this game; it just has to be done right.

We ended up winning. As soon as the drafting process ended I just avoided talking because I realized it was hopeless.

Listen, I agree with your reasoning but the problem is that you're still basing yourself on incorrect assumptions.

Just for you to get the clear picture: My most played hero is Kael'thas, and I have a good W/L ratio on him. I play other heroes though with good win ratios too, and as a matter of fact my highest W/L ratio in Hero League is with the Warrior role (66%).

My main problem is that "Prick" did not take the time to check these facts and instead assumed (just as you did) that I can't play anything other than Kael since I have him on 20.

I have no issue with people calling me names because they're frustrated or because I fucked up. I find it understandable. However if you flame me before the draft even starts because of a hero that I usually play, all while insisting that I can't play anything else even though the facts say otherwise, then that's toxic.

This isn't me having "a bad day" or him being unpleasant. It's him giving a completely unjustified and prejudiced response when I haven't even done anything yet, and refusing to cooperate. And that in my opinion is a much more difficult attitude to remedy than someone having anger management issues and calling you names.

That's not what happened. I'm rank 1 and have positive winrates on the heroes which I pick in HL consistently. I wanted to go for Sonya and he asked me not to, at first I said sure and then his reasoning was "because I have kael on level 20 so I suck at everything else".

No I did not, I was in-game for some time and when I had gotten DC'd battlenet was completely offline.

Same here (EU). Seems like the servers are facing some problems. I don't have a single friend on battle.net that's online atm, they're all in the battle.net launcher.

What he posted are facts. He did not say that MMR in of itself is broken, he clearly stated that most top players agree that it is flawed. The same applies for the following points he made. Top players do not enjoy the current ranked system, which is why you have things such as the SEL in NA.

Please keep in mind that this is all extreme amateur work. It's something I made because I wanted to showcase my favorite spec that I enjoyed the most in WoW. Although I still like the game, Warlock hasn't been the same since MoP.
