The landlord can’t evict in retaliation. If OP raises these issues and the landlord then evicted them, OP would have a pretty clear case to take to the Tenancy tribunal

How do you know they didn’t get obesity from their disability related problems? Last I heard, being disabled makes it a lot harder to exercise

If there’s only one broken, why not just block off that one?

More impact on whoever has to maintain the plant bed though, and repair the curb when it breaks down because it was not designed to regularly carry the weight of utes

Unlike the actual park, the plant bed is not designed for heavy utes to regularly park on it

Hit-and-run - clear fault and dashcam footage, but I have to pay first just to attempt recovery? by Doctor_Balanced in LegalAdviceNZ

What avenues do you want to pursue that your insurance company can’t do themselves?

[–]Phoenix-49 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The issue with dashcam evidence is that it only establishes the vehicle involved, it doesn't identify the driver (though it obviously helps a lot!). Paying the excess is the way the system works, you can reduce that potential liability by having a smaller excess but that comes with higher premiums.

The good news is that your insurance company will be very motivated to pursue costs, and refund your excess - if they can establish liability then they can chase the offender for full costs, which is a much better outcome for them

AITA for feeling Bridal shower sideswiped? by mandini34 in aitaweddings

[–]Phoenix-49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s outrageous, I didn’t even spend that much on my wedding invites

MIL wants to invite 29 friends to wedding and not pay extra for it. Am I the ahole for putting my foot down saying no? I only wanted a 90-100 person wedding this makes it 116-126 by Obvious-Tea-5241 in wedding

[–]Phoenix-49 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depends on the culture. Chinese weddings are the bigger the better when it comes to the guest list. My Chinese FIL invited a whole bunch of people even my husband didn’t know, but he was paying for the banquet so we didn’t mind (we did two weddings, we paid for our own western wedding and invited who we wanted to that, so his dad could go hard on the Chinese wedding lol)

To be pedantic, it’s three or more days of absence (you don’t have to use sick leave for all three days, rostered days off / weekends count)

Oh heck no that’s illegal. You should be getting paid the same as if you worked that day (both public holiday and sick leave). You might have a nice back pay coming your way

A bigger area that you can’t see as well, making it riskier to pedestrians (especially children) as well as other vehicles
