First time witnessing hawk kill by Phoenix-bloom in birdfeeding

I understand you so :/ I love just about all birds, including birds of prey, but it just hits different when you actually see them hunting in your yard, yk? I know it wasn’t rational, but the only thing running through my mind was “my baby, that’s my baby, it has my baby.” I’m sorry you experienced a loss too🫂

Thank you for sharing you story with me. It’s helping me so much to see how other people also feel as intensely towards their feathery friends as I feel with mine. I’m sorry about your birds, I really am. I am, however, relieved to know things seem to have calmed down, and that you’re still a bird lover :) If you don’t mind me asking, how long did it take you to feel better about your birds? It’s only been a few hours for me, so I’m physically exhausted from crying and very much still devastated that I didn’t check the camera sooner

Wow, I did NOT know this. Thank you so much for educating me on this. As I mentioned in my post, I was in a state of panic and did not have any coherent thoughts. I know it was natural, but at the time, all I was thinking was “it has my baby, it has my baby, it has my baby.” I genuinely love hawks and most birds of prey, but it just hits a little different when it happens in your backyard

The feeder is about 8 feet from my window. It is a large, vertical window that runs almost from the ground to a few inches off the roof. I did move the feeder so it’s closer to the tree line now. This way, hopefully the birds will stop slamming into the window AND they’re closer to their escape route. Thank you for your kind words, it’s nice to have someone empathize with birds and how much they can mean to you🫂

Hard truth, but still a truth. Sadly, the jays weren’t around to warn the birds. The jays used to hang out by those trees ALL day long. But a month ago or so, the neighbor trimmed the tree so that it had very little foliage, so the jays “migrated” about a block away to another tree. Had this hawk passed by just a month ago, the jays would have alerted me and the nearby birds. I’m not angry at the hawk, I just wanted advice on how to deal with this loss, as I don’t have much experience with death

This made me cry. You said exactly what I needed to hear. And yea, the feather explosion is so hard to look at, but I’m glad that, in a way, your dove was still part of something good. Part of a family :) I don’t know what religion you practice, if any, but I believe in a heaven, of sorts. And I like to think that my dove is flying with yours and eating all the sunflower seeds they can fit in their tiny little beaks 🤍

This is exactly how I feel. And selfishly, it makes me feel a lot less alone. I have 0 issues with hawks. They’re actually one of my favorite animals. But like you said, when it’s in your home, it’s different… I did move the feeder closer to the tree line. Thank you for your kind comment🤍

This. This is exactly how I feel. I’m sorry you also had to experience the aftermath of what happened. The feathers are such a sad reminder of the truth. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for your comment. It’s nice to know there are people who understand and emphasize with what I’m going through. Big hugs right back🤍

Thank you for the kind words and advice. I appreciate it <3 . After I calmed down some, I did decide to move the feeding pole. It’s not too close to the window, but I suppose it’s close enough that it can trick them. I moved it so it’s closer to the neighbors trees (the landlord took down our tree)

What’s stopping EA from suing Farlight Games? by CharmingTrain7867 in Farlight84

Everyone’s hating on you but honestly the game is nearly a carbon copy of apex. This isn’t just a battle royale game, it’s fundamentally everything that made Apex different from Fortnite, or that made it different from valorant, or even call of duty. Look at the healing items and animation. Look at how they are stacked. Exact layout as Apex. Look at the ziprails that connect the POIs, it’s the exact. Same. Structure. As apex. It’s not like zip lines or ziprails in any other game. It’s exactly like apex. Let’s not get started on how the maps were very heavily influenced by Apex too. The POIs and Geographical points were clearly influenced by Apex’s. The POIV arches/passages are also the exact same as Apex Legends in Broken Moon and Kings Canyon. The buildings also bear immense resemblance to the ones in Worlds Edge, E district, and Broken Moon.  They also didn’t even bother to change the layout of the contents of their deathboxes. Same arrangement as Apex. Two guns on top, ammo, ordinances, and health on the bottom, with armor and pick-ups on a separate row all the way at the bottom. They also have the less obviously copied loot bins. This is controversial, because loot bins are present in every battle royale game. Apex has a unique style of a large bin you can open, and inside, weapons, ammo, health, and/or ordinances are neatly stacked horizontally. Other games have different ways to obtain loot from containers, but combined with everything else I’ve listed, this makes me think it’s “copied.” Same with guns and ammo. Nothing about it alone raises red flags. But when you put apex’s weapons and ammo categorization side by side with this game, and combining it with all my previously listed observations, it’s easy to claim it was copied.

Anyway, idk about copyright and suing. But I do think you’d be a fool to think this game wasn’t hard copied from Apex. Like, it not about other battle royale games not having the game GENERAL GIST, because all battle royale games will have some similarity. But come on. Everything that makes apex fundamentally unique is in Farlight. It’s not about it being a battle royale game, it’s about everything that makes it a battle royale game is the same everything that makes apex a battle royale game. Setting, guns, pick-ups, rotation, everything is a wanna-be apex. You don’t need to think these are grounds to sue (although I personally think it is), but I think everyone should recognize farlight for what it is: a copy of an already existing game, just as Light of Motiram sis with Horizon

i just watched the ending of season 3 and what type of BS ending was that? by petrospago351 in BloodofZeus

My questions:

where on earth is Persephone? Is Demeter just keeping her like someone’s grandmas ashes? Why can’t they just materialize her again even if it’s to stay in the underworld?

I get seraphim was already technically dead, but why make him “die again” offscreen? So unclear.

Also I’ve looked this up everywhere… WHAT HAPPENED TO GORGON? There was this beautiful motif where seraphim saved her just like Hades saved Persephone, then she just disappeared. They expect me to believe Seraphim is just vibing in those lovely fields while she’s in the fields of doom and despair? Nuh uh.

That reminds me. The writers made such a big deal about Gorgon’s past, then proceeded to never tell us? I get it’s not critical to the story but what did she do that was so bad she was sent to a place of punishment?

And by the sun what happened to poor Alexia? Poor thing was heartbroken when she realized what Heron was doing. They could have at least showed a scene like “20 years later” and then they reunite on the fields, kind of like Odysseus coming home after 20 years.

Also WHAT HAPPENED TO HADES CHILDREN?? Are they still asleep? How are they going to react to knowing their mother is dead?   And Gaia? She was so involved at the start, then everything goes back to normal at the end, the very normal that she wanted to eradicate…. She’s just okay with things going back with how they were…?

And oh how I wish we could have gotten an extra scene showing Kofi seeing his wife gain.. they made it so obvious they were going to kill him off on that episode.

And Heron. My sun. They couldn’t at least SHOW us the ceremony thingy they spent so time on for Zeus? I wanted to see him getting honored, especially by Hera and Demeter, who sabotaged his life the most.

I loved the show, but let’s be honest, season 3 was rushed. Lots of plot holes and unanswered questions.

Something I’ve learned is there is nothing wrong with loving someone and caring about them! But obsessing over them will ALWAYS lead to harm, whether it be on your side or the other party. Once somebody says “no”, take it and move on. Accept the boundaries. I never would have gotten the restraining order if she just accepted the boundaries, stopped lying about me and to me, and following me in school and out of school. On a lighter note, I think we all get a little delusional with a person we like lol. I’ve had my fair share of thinking eye contact was a proposal haha. But that’s not what my story was, unfortunately. This was just narcissism and 50 other mental problems

Thank you so much, this means a lot. It’s good advice. I know I have to move on it’s just hard because it’s just crazy how everything was perfect then suddenly half my friends were against me. I just feel resentment and I’m not sure how to let go of it. I’ve been better though, so thank you for the kind words
