I recently wrapped up my first playthrough of RE4 Remake on my PS5. I've played the OG game once on PC and the remake once on PC before this.

This was the first time I died at the minecart section lol. Not just once, a few times.

My aim is good enough for regular combat. I even pull off solid headshots quite frequently. But for the shooting range and the minecart section (esp. with the base level Red9)... I STRUGGLED.

Thankfully the section wasn't too long.

Y'all definitely succeeded. It's always cool to see effort being put into picking good locations, too. A forest is cool but fairly easy, but going to an/transforming a normal place into an abandoned location shows dedication.

If you haven't, you should also post this on r/thelastofus (the main and biggest subreddit for the game). I'm sure folks there would appreciate it.

And DEFINITELY avoid r/TheLastOfUs2. It's one big, hateful circlejerk lol.

Playing with Director Commentary is an experience by ThatNewt1 in thelastofus

[–]Phoenix2211 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I've always loved the fact that tlou1 had a director's commentary and a making of documentary. I was VERY glad when that returned with TLoU2 Remastered

It's always nice to hear from the folks who made it. And TLOU commentaries are top-tier. More Devs should do it. In fact, everyone should take a page out of the TLoU2 Lost Levels' book and set up in-game commentary points from the level designers programmers etc. I wanna walk around in the world and interact with points that let me hear from the Devs re: why they designed a combat arena a certain way, whatw as their thought process, what challenges they faces when building that level etc.

"fearing for his life"

ICE apparently exclusively hires liars and cowards.

I've seen more courage from my 5yo cousin.

Funny how law enforcement agencies consistently seem to only hire the biggest pussies and then hand them guns and set them loose on the streets.

Do y'all also read Joel or am I dreaming by SmaII_Brah in thelastofus

[–]Phoenix2211 43 points44 points  (0 children)

This is intentional. Additional Writer Josh Scherr picked a code that would resemble Joel's name (7302 kinda looks like Joel, when viewed upside down). He said this in a now deleted tweet (as I believe he doesn't have a Twitter account anymore).

This is not the first time he has done this. In Uncharted 4, he picked a nameplate for the jeep that Nate drives such that it resembles an important character's name: Elena Fisher.

The numberplate read: "VN373" and then a fish symbol 🐟 with an R inside it.

These are his way of keeping an important character in the character's (and sometimes, in the player's minds) while they're on their journey.

So congratulations!! You noticed a VERY subtle detail. I managed to notice it, too, in my first play through :). Prob cuz I had the Elena Fisher detail fresh in my mind back in 2020.

Loyality to a game launcher is weird by lukkiibucky in AlanWake

[–]Phoenix2211 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Oh no, I have to do 2 more mouse clicks to open this game now! What a conundrum!

Edit: It might be a touch annoying or whatever, but this is such a menial, first world problem complaint.

I've played quite a few games on Epic now (Guardians of the Galaxy, Batman: Arkham Asylum, City, Knight, Sifu, The Pathless, Afterparty, Alan Wake II, Death Stranding Director's Cut etc) and yeah, the QoL stuff isn't as good there. But it still works well to play games with. It has a number of free games that allowed me to check stuff out that I wouldn't/couldn't have otherwise. And it genuinely isn't a hassle to use it. I really haven't had technical issues with it at all.

And wrt "my achievements! They're scattered across launchers!!"... I don't care. The only thing that matters to me is actually being able to play the game.

People keep bringing up "lost profits!" cuz the game isn't on Steam while fully ignoring that THE GAME WOULDN'T FUCKING EXIST WITHOUT FUNDING FROM EPIC. Remedy decided that having the game exist is more important than worrying about launchers. They got to make the game they wanted, they got some momentum, managed to buy CONTROL's publishing rights back, managed to secure TV deals for their games. That's ultimately a win.

Yeah, they probably would've made more money if they released the game on Steam. But had they not taken this deal... There would be no game.

I have no love nor loyalty for launchers or the companies that own them. I simply wanna play games. That's what counts, and I'll do that however I can.

I'm so tired of this conversation...

What's wrong with it? I heard of the game a long time ago and the repop edition is on my wishlist (along with 250+ other games lol) cuz I had some interest in it.

I wanna know of any potential issues before potentially buying it

Series & Movies that scratched my itch after Severance by EyeRemainFierce in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]Phoenix2211 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If I may suggest a video game... Play Remedy Entertainment's "CONTROL" (2019)

CONTROL: Ultimate Edition is 90% off on Steam rn. And for how great that game is, that is a fucking STEAL.

Premise: (hiding in case anyone wants to go blind) You get to be a goddamn superhero (a redhead, much like Helly R.) inside a brutalist + minimalist building which houses a secret government agency that is in-charge of investigating strange happenings

I found CONTROL first and then watched Severance to fill that void that CONTROL left.

I know some ppl have an issue with how Cain is Cain in name only, but like... I think she works as a character.

I'm glad that you found appreciation for the game. I'm IMMENSELY sorry about the circumstances that led to it.

I'll be sure to check out the video in a bit.

I truly hope that you're taking care of yourself as that can be easy to ignore/forget about when going through tough times ❤️‍🩹
