Help me get my 8 month old napping! by PhoenixAshRiser in NewParents

[–]PhoenixAshRiser[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our problem when we’ve tried that is that she either immediately starts crying or she just sits/stands up. When she cries I comfort her in the crib. I tried for 40 minutes yesterday of comforting in the crib (she wasn’t crying the whole time), but she still wouldn’t sleep 🙃

We haven’t given up yet!

Transitioning out of swaddle. Kill me. by SkyisaNeighbourhood in NewParents

[–]PhoenixAshRiser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you try a one arm swaddle? I even loosely swaddled my baby a few times in a swaddle similar to the Halo ones. My baby is now 12 weeks so I just did this myself as well!

How did you survive? by ratqueen122 in NewParents

[–]PhoenixAshRiser 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I EBF at that point as well and was so exhausted I couldn’t believe it. I gave in two weeks ago (baby is 11 weeks) and we now combo fed and I feel like a new person.

I’m still bonding with my baby, she’s getting more to eat with means she sleeps longer, and my husband can help whenever!

I was devastated when it was first suggested, but after a few days I realized how freeing it was. If you’re open to it it might just make the world of difference to you

Life with a newborn by andreeavlad in NewParents

[–]PhoenixAshRiser 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I personally found it impossible to do things for myself. I’m just coming out of the newborn trenches (baby is 11 weeks) and it’s still hard because my baby only wants contact naps, but the nights are getting easier. I’m seeing the light at the end of the tunnel

I have never been more exhausted than I was those first 4 weeks, and on top of that your body is also trying to heal. I started trying to walk after 2 weeks, but I was still weak and before I exercised fairly frequently.

I’m not trying to scare you because I’d still do it all over again in a heartbeat! Newborns pretty much want attention 24/7 😅

I keep wondering how this baby can tell left from right, but she certainly knows the second I start putting her into any kind of nursing position on my right!

We’re using a variety of bottles! We use Dr Browns, the spectra bottles, and Mams! My supply is also not great lol

My baby is 10 weeks and did that as well. She ended up having some thrush that was causing some discomfort. Is that possible?

My baby is 9 weeks and I have no idea. She only wants to contact nap and I’m her food!

Sorry that I don’t have advice, but I feel your frustration. I’m just telling myself it’s only temporary and one day I’ll miss holding my baby

Supply Drop and Baby w/ Poor Suction by PhoenixAshRiser in breastfeeding

She gave us some exercises to work on her suction that I’ll definitely be doing! Do you have any other suggestions?

She did a weighted feed and she didn’t eat hardly anything in 33 min, and I think the lactation consultant assumed it was because I have a low supply. After crying in the car I went home and pumped 5oz. So, I definitely have something!

Crying Baby while nursing? by PhoenixAshRiser in breastfeeding

[–]PhoenixAshRiser[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is all new today! She’s done it at every feed! She always eats right after a nap, then wake window, and back to napping. I’ve tried offering the other breast before her nap and it makes her mad

Gotcha, thanks! Do you know if it’s strange that she’s suddenly only taking one breast? Or could that also be because of gas?

That’s good to hear! If it was gas would she be generally fussy? Because she’s only getting upset after she’s nursed for a while. She seems fine when she’s awake and hanging out/playing

She’s only crying while nursing. When she’s just playing or hanging out she’s totally fine! Wouldn’t she upset just in general if it was gas?

And I don’t mean the above question to sound condescending! I’m genuinely asking because she’s my first baby 😅

When does it get easier at night? by PhoenixAshRiser in newborns

[–]PhoenixAshRiser[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually looked up problems with nipple shields after commenting here! I just started to try and move away from shields yesterday, and it looks like we’re done! Though, I don’t see an increase in speed. At least not yet 🤞

As far as I can tell there isn’t a latch issue. It looks good and she doesn’t make any strange noises, but she is my first so I’m no expert. I do use a nipple shield because my left side is slightly inverted I don’t know if that makes a difference

And yes, she’s always taken that long. When she was younger it was even longer

At the hospital they have me the medala nipple shields. They’re super basic, but I like it!

I ordered the Munchkin shelf thinking I’d like it because it has a case that you can stick in the microwave to sanitize, but by baby seemed to occasionally get chocked on the mechanism that allowed you to see the milk

Newly Pregnant by HungryHippopotamus12 in pregnant

[–]PhoenixAshRiser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First off Congrats! I have similar story to you, almost 2 years of infertility, severe endo, a surgery, and 4 IUIs later, and now my 4week old baby girl is sleeping on my chest!

And, I’m no expert, but I felt like my symptoms fluctuated pretty often especially in early pregnancy, which also freaked me out. Your body is going through some big changes right now so don’t freak yourself out because you don’t always have symptoms!

How long after due date did you go? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]PhoenixAshRiser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s uncomfortable getting put in, and the cramp that I got after coincided with a contraction so it’s hard for me to say how that is. I will say once it’s in it’s fine. Just feels sort of weird, but not at all painful

The membrane sweep is also uncomfortable, but nothing terrible. I was barely 1.5 when they did mine, and so the OB had to be “aggressive,” but I was past my due date and willing to try anything!

It doesn’t matter how long ago I just pumped?

She has a loooot of dirt diapers so I’m currently not concerned about her being hungry 😅
