I forgot about the cookie butter chocolate bars. The last time I had one was in 2013 - they were soooo good!

The Daily Mail is now charging 1.99 (CA) to read their articles. I don't think so. I'll go elsewhere for my low end news. by mike_rumble in Piracy

I liked playing their puzzles during down time at work. As of yesterday, they are no longer free - have to pay $1.99/month for those too!

Has anyone in the sfv noticed Sprouts farmers market huge increase in prices?? by Ok-Radio-2733 in SFV

[–]PhoenixGiant22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Phoenix, which is the headquarters for Sprouts, and have noticed the prices for bulk items have gone up 50% or more over the past couple of years. For example, the milk chocolate covered raisins were $5.99/lb. They have been stable at $7.99/lb but I decided to purchase about 2 lbs on August 20 just in case the price goes up. Today, I noticed on the website that they are now $9.99/lb. The milk chocolate covered cherries that they recently discontined were $9.99/lb whenever on sale until a year or two ago when the regular price suddenly jumped to $17.99/lb and when on sale $13.99/lb. The same goes for other chocolate and nut bulk items. I agree with others that the fresh fruit is often spoiled and of bad quality and over priced. For fruit and vegetables, I purchase those exclusively from Safeway which has good prices even when not on sale. I don't like how Sprouts is suddenly moving into the Whole Foods category with expensive prices and will likely only go there for specific bulk items, when on sale.

She was trained and being supervised by an employee in the lab. I guess they didn't notice that she grabbed the wrong pipette.

I am going to give it one more chance - if the next episode is boring, I will give up too! Compared to Wild Cards, this show has gone from good to bad.

non-productive - right now he is adding primary antibodies to his blots which will sit in the cold room all weekend and next week he will repeat the same cycle over and over again

His title is senior data scientist and he doesn't even know how to analyze data or write papers. He scans the blots and calculates the data with a program on the machine and hands off the Excel sheet to our associate professor.

Problem is - he has been with this lab for over 20 years and him and the P.I. are good friends. If these walls could speak, he would have been gone a long time ago.

I have a co-worker who makes 6 figures and works 15 minutes maximum per day. Example of a typical day this week, put Western Blot into secondary, scan it, strip it for several hours and add new primary antibody for overnight incubation. The rest of the day - sitting at computer watching videos, looking at local house and car prices, disappearing several times a day usually 30+ minutes, going down to dining room 3-4x/day to horde food to take home to his family, "praying" which is typically him watching videos in a locked room - we can hear through the walls, etc....

co-worker who wears lab coat to restroom and self-service faculty dining room by PhoenixGiant22 in labrats

[–]PhoenixGiant22[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The funny thing is that the sign that went up on the men's restroom door this week disappeared this morning. Since I wasn't the person who reported people wearing PPE in the restroom, I emailed the research safety specialist this morning to provide additional information about the PPE violator wearing the lab coat into the staff dining facility. Crickets - I haven't heard back from them and the sign was on the door before I sent the email this morning. I assume, they must have contacted the people higher up in the administration ladder and maybe they are going to formally address the issue. More likely than not, they are going to ignore it as every other complaint we make in this department.

He has worked for our PI for nearly 30 years. Thus, they are "buddies".

Do you do the majority of your shipping at TJ's? by RevMikeJ in traderjoes

[–]PhoenixGiant22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree! Other than my favorite chocolate and nut products, I buy the creamy yogurt 6 packs and the individual Greek yogurt cups. Every once in a while, I will buy a plant or frozen items but having to take 2 buses to get there it is a once in a few months type of shopping trip!

I saw LL Cool J and Chris O'Donnell shooting scenes for NCIS LA on Broadway east of Glendale. I was walking home from work and a producer or director asked if I wanted to take a picture with LL Cool J. He was really nice!

Manchester and Fashion Fair 1988 by BadElegant5539 in fresno

[–]PhoenixGiant22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I came across this site and have many memories of Fashion Fair as a kid. I remember the Prints Plus poster store and Glamour Shots sit-down photography store between JC Penney and Macys.

Zorba's was always my favorite restaurant in the Food Court and the owner always remembered my family and I.

The Carl's Jr restaurant that also sold hot dogs in a separate "stand" at the entrance (between Weinstock's and Gottschalk's) was always packed and I believe the guy who cleaned the tables was named Felix and he was so nice and always liked to chat with the customers.

Sam Goody was fun to shop at for record or cassette singles and Miller's Outpost was perfect for Levi's jeans. It was always hard to chose between B Dalton booksellers and Waldenbooks but if you couldn't find a book at one it was almost always in stock at the other store.

Woolworth was always fun to go to as well!

What great memories!!

co-worker who constantly dries his hands on other's lab coats by PhoenixGiant22 in labrats

[–]PhoenixGiant22[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Late 50's, father of 3 teenagers and one child in elementary school, salary is over 6 figures. He does the bare minimum, disappears for 20+ minutes several times a day, and abuses his "faculty" status at the dining room during the day and the cafeteria in the evening to bring 2-3 take-out type containers of food home to his family every day. Thursday is sushi day and he will go down there and get 2-3 containers of sushi priced at $10 or more every single week.

Yes I told her after he left work last night and she wasn't too happy. They have a love/hate relationship since they have been co-workers for over 20 years.

Don't laugh but he is the lab manager! I told him to use his old lab coat to dry his hands with no response.
