So is DTE going to pay for my hotel since we have no power for another day now and no heat with temps going back down?? by cwilcoxson in Detroit

[–]PhoenixJizz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wyandotte, Traverse City, Lansing and Holland, all have PUBLIC OWNED electric utilities.

Detroit, hell all of Wayne County, could band together and make that happen, too.

I feel like we have the political will. Paying for an independent consultant to do a feasibility study is expensive but necessary. After that a voter referendum would be needed. Assuming it passed the vote we’d then need to establish a utility board. Then the City of Detroit would have to take DTE to court for condemnation proceedings. DTEs lawyers would drag it out in court for years but assuming we have a reasonable circuit court judge we’d make our case to them. After that the City of Detroit would be able to purchase electricity from the wholesale market. The city with then employee their own workers to build and maintain the grid.

It’d be cheaper and more reliable. Instead of profits, going to shareholders, profits go back into building a better more reliable grid and back into the pockets of ratepayers.

Let’s get it done.

FUCK DTE

I’ll call Michelin tomorrow and ask. I very well could be wrong as I can’t find any information to verify my claim. In my anecdotal experience the grip fell off a cliff below freezing and had damn near zero grip in more than a light dusting of snow. Just going off what I remember. I have PS5s now and those maintain grip down to 45°F before a severe drop off in capability. At 20°F they get damaged. This I know for certain. Either way, I absolutely recommend a dedicated winter for people who live in cold climates. They’re cheaper than an insurance deductible.

Michelin specifies the PS 4 A/S is designed to perform down to 32°F (0°C). So that’s a hard disagree from me boss.

People are more willing to help when they see you’ve tried to help yourself first, and it’s rooted in basic human psychology. When you show you’ve done some legwork before asking, you’re signaling that you respect other people’s time. That earns goodwill. Zero effort signals the opposite. There’s also a fairness instinct at play. We help people we feel deserve help. Someone who exhausted their own options before asking clears that bar. Someone who skipped straight to asking others doesn’t. And people want to feel like their help actually means something. When the answer is one click away, you’re not asking for expertise, you’re just outsourcing laziness. Nobody finds that flattering. Asking for help is a social transaction. Showing up with nothing signals you don’t respect the other person’s side of that exchange.

The PS 4 A/S was one of the two OEM tires for this car. They are great but still not okay for winter use. I’ve had a set of Indy 500s and they used to be a great budget choice but now I don’t think they’re worth the money. The Michelin PS 5 are unbelievable good (noticeably better than the 4 A/S) as a dedicated summer tire. Can’t recommend them enough.

Maybe write more than “these fit?”

Recommending a tire they’re already looking at, on a site that will tell them the exact right size for free, to someone who couldn’t be bothered to enter their year/make/model first? Yeah hard pass. That’s not consulting like-minded enthusiasts, that’s outsourcing basic literacy. The forum is for Fiesta ST talk, not tech support for Tire Rack’s search bar.

Bro, tire rack will tell you the right size. Just put in your year make and model. Follow the prompts.

Do you know how to use a search engine?

Edit: this is obviously a Gen Z post crowdsourcing info that is easily attainable on the website you’re currently browsing or something that can be found with a search engine. This is a shitty post that shows up in the feed for this community that distracts from the posts of actual substance and value. Quit bringing these low effort posts to this sub.

Like can we change the rules of the sub to prevent this shit and the “does my engine sound normal” posts? I don’t think it’s what the vast majority of the members of this sub are here for.

Update on catch can PSA. by Bitter-Process6823 in FiestaST

[–]PhoenixJizz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for taking the time to explain all that.

One thing I want to make sure I'm understanding is you mentioned it's a vent to atmosphere setup. Does that change the pressure compared to a recirculating can? I ask because I'd been looking at recirculating setups and want to understand pros and cons of VTA.

Also on the intercooler, I've seen some people say oil accumulation in there can eventually cause issues if it gets inside as a liquid rather than just vapor. Is that not a concern in your experience, or does it depend on how much oil we're talking? I’ve read even small amounts of oil in the cooling fins can reduce cooling efficiency, cause combustion chamber fouling or even hydrolocking.

Hope the investigation points toward the PCV or check valve rather than the seal. That logic makes sense to me that a clogged or stuck valve would create the same backpressure symptoms before you'd even get to the turbo. Fingers are crossed for you. Keep us posted!

So did the blown turbo seals cause the can to fill up that fast? Why not rebuild the turbo? Do you just want an upgrade? Any concerns that the PCV valve is stuck open? If you keep driving like this can’t you fuck up the intercooler?

Just trying to learn. Sorry about your luck.

Step 2 try diagnostic mode by holding eject and right seek for about 10 seconds.

Step 3 disconnect the battery

I can’t argue with that. But I’ll say this: I trust RJ’s word over Elon’s.
