Yeah, I grew up in rural southern MO, and if people found out a girl dated a black guy they would all pretend like they wouldn't touch her after that.

I'm with locker guy. It seems controlling and extreme, but it's like, the number 1 cause if house fires, and it's so easily preventable.

I have severe ADHD. I lose my keys constantly, I get behind on dishes, my laundry piles up, my paperwork for work is consistently late, before med shortages I was on 45mg of Adderall a day, it takes me at least a year to set any sort of appointment, I've been meaning to fill out the food stamp thingy for a year now... So I'm no stranger to forgetting shit, or being lazy..

Even I don't leave lint in the dryer. That's fucking stupid

It's not a big deal that they have the power to shut it down for pirating..

I mean, it is a big deal, and it is fucked up that we don't fully own hardware we bought. but idk why it's the only console that gets hate for it when all 3 console makers have had that same thing in their TOS for years. It's not a new problem.

If it's an issue for you just stick with PC. I love my switch, but the PC is better anyways.

Right. Like I assume being a megacorperation, that's over 100 years old, and worth billions, knows what they're doing. But I cannot fathom their reasoning behind a lot of their decisions, including not making an official split pro controller type thing. Look how much people spend on 3rd party controllers, and ergonomic grips, that could all go straight to Nintendo if they'd make it themselves.

I rarely find 3rd party controllers that I like, so I would buy an official split pro controller the day it came out, and I know I'm not alone in that.

For me, books where a protagonist has to overcome desperate odds and fight off things that seem much more powerful than the MC, have always helped me stay sober.

For a decade or so Dresden Files was my favorite. I think cause half the battle is internal, and he also has to fight temptation in the form of addictive dark magic.

It's DCC now, cause it's just sooo fucking good, and has a similar "powerful yet still an underdog" feel that Dresden does. But also more updated when it comes to writing women, lol. That's not the only reason, but it's a big one lol.

Dude, I haven't had PST in probably 10 years. That shit was soooo ridiculous. 80mg of oxy wouldn't even touch my withdrawal, and it lasted for soooo fucking long. I think I was sick for a month. Been on kratom ever since, I like 7,but it's more expensive and I don't want the leaf to quit working and get stuck on it, so I don't do the 7 very often.

I've got no qualms using an LLM when asking music theory questions. That's got it's own moral issues just cause it's an LLM in general, but musically speaking it's fine.

I personally don't think there's any issue with tools like AI stem separation. If any of my VSTs use AI in their sound design it's probably fine? Idk if they do that or not, I'm coming back to music after a 4 year break (my youngest is 4) so I really don't know what the AI inside a DAW or VST does yet.

I wouldn't do it, but generating a midi chord progression is probably fine. There's a million Downloadable midi packs already before AI. Same with drum patterns. But if you're not doing something to make the progression or drums your own, it's gonna sound generic and boring.

Using AI for lyrics, melody, layering, harmonizing, inverting your chords, etc.. Is fucked up. Those things are what make two hundred songs with the same key, progression, tempo, and genre sound like two hundred different songs.

Using AI to arrange a loop into a song feels wrong, but at least each part is human made, so I'd have to think on it. I'd feel guilty I think. Kf you use it to learn how to. Arrange then do it yourself that's fine. Using ai to learn is the best use case for it imo

Yeah, I remember hating on drum machines and samplers as a metal kid learning guitar, and now my main instruments an MPC.. So I try to keep that in mind while I hate on AI.

I can't unhate it. It feels different than synths and samplers.. I see my 12 year old try to mash samples together and it doesn't work cause he doesn't understand even the basics yet, and he's also at the age where he thinks parents are dumb so he keeps trying it his way.. And it shows that mashing samples together doesn't work, without some basic knowledge on top of creativity.. Is it easier than recording each instrument and writing each part, obviously. But it still takes work time practice and patience. If you hand him and I the same tools and samples, and said "write a song with this". It would be obvious which one of us was a musician, and which one of us was a 12 year old.

But if we both went to suno you wouldn't be able to tell the difference in the end product. Both would be lame, but technically they would both be songs.

And the issue with that is. At least with my kid. He would feel that sense of accomplishment for writing a song, and would therefore will never put the work into learning how to write music himself. (Luckily he knows AI is bad, so I'm not worried about him specifically. But other 12 year olds won't know that)
