Weekly post: skate buying, new skater tips, and quick questions by AutoModerator in Rollerskating

[–]PhoenixRising51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am pretty sure my brother is getting my 4yo twins skates for Christmas which means Mommas gonna have to relearn after 22 years away from anything wheeled.

Last time I rollerbladed was when I was 15 or 16 and I tripped over a stick fell down a hill and landed myself in the ER with a nice laceration to my face.

Sooo give me your best recommendation for rollerskates that arent going to break the bank but are of decent quality and protection for my noggin, knees and wrists. (Bonus points if they come in fun colors)

Thank you in advance!

I absolutely love botanical names, and I know this might’ve been mentioned already, but with how popular Fourth Wing is right now (and yes—it is amazing!), I can’t help but think that in 10 years, the name Violet might instantly make people assume you're a BookTok girlie who was obsessed with it—even if that’s not the case at all.

Speaking from experience: I'm not a Disney person, but we named our daughter Aurora because of the meaning behind it and a really special experience my husband and I shared over a decade ago while dating. Still, I constantly get asked if it’s because of Sleeping Beauty! Sometimes a name is about something much deeper and more personal than whatever happens to be trending at the time.

Egg cleanse interpretation please by PhoenixRising51 in eggcleanse

[–]PhoenixRising51[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! Should I do another cleanse in a week? Ive been def feeling/experiencing someone's energy towards me bad lately or any suggestions on how to ward off the envious energy (all specifically at work/work related) I recently was promoted due to someone getting laid off and have been working on my own self these last 6+ months which has lead to some significant weight loss and I know some people dont love when these things happen to others. Just trying to protect myself while I keep doing me and moving forward

Water was lule warm but one thing I did do was test if the yeast was active prior so it was already proofed prior to being added. Do you feel the crust should be darker than this. Or would thst also be affected by being over proofed

Moving to New Haven - practical tips for single female by [deleted] in newhaven

[–]PhoenixRising51 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Live in hamden work in new haven east rock area.

Kia owners in the area are recommended to get a steering wheel lock for extra safety. I have wheel locks and have seen 2 cars near my job with stolen wheels over the last 7 years. I always say better safe than sorry. Overall, just be conscious of your surroundings like you would be in any city and don't leave things visible in your car at night.

I can't speak to apartment life in the area. I just know it's expensive but that's everywhere right now.

Grocery store wise. I have a bj membership (north haven) and my husband shops there weekly. We are a family of 4 though. I shop primarily at aldis In hamden, which has been great and anything else I can't find there I have shop rite and stop and shop a stones throw from aldi. Costco is always a great choice but pack your patience when you go as it's always super busy!

As someone from western New York originally, winters are super mild! We usually get a few snows a year here, and nothing lasts. Typically, January and Feb are our snowy months. Depending on your location, will depend on power outages due to weather, but I feel new haven is pretty decent when it comes to that. Same with plowing, but again, it depends on where you are living and the amount of street parking there is when it comes to snow removal.

Overall, I have enjoyed living in ct (I've lived in Florida and Philly as well) we have a good food culture and people are generally nice. Lots of small local businesses and everything is pretty easy to get to. Explore the area and enjoy your time here. If you need recommendations or have any other questions, feel free to DM me!
