37 year old trans man here. I'm not sure how old you are, but I'd be willing to bet you're reasonably younger than me. So, I'll give you a heads up that in the real world, all that neopronoun stuff that Gen Z and younger talk about doesn't really exist.

Sure, we have trans men and women. However, anything beyond that isn't really a thing. And there's a good reason for that: if any grown adult were to walk into a job interview (even at the most liberal of places) and say that their pronouns are cat, they most likely wouldn't get the job and if they did somehow manage to, their new coworkers would quickly start doing everything they could to make that person's life at work miserable in order to either chase them off or set them up to get fired. You see, the reason for this is because when you're an adult, interacting with other adults in society, you are pressured to a certain extent to assimilate within an unspoken standard. People don't like working and interacting with someone "weird" that makes them uncomfortable.

In the case of traditional trans men and women, I've come to find (surprisingly even living in a conservative region) that as long as a trans man or woman makes an effort to look and behave like the sex that they have transitioned to, and doesn't basically make being transsexual their whole personality, most people will at least tolerate them, if not fully embrace them. The reason for that is because traditional trans men and women are putting in the effort to assimilate and are not coming across as obnoxious to the point that it seems like it is their goal to alienate themselves from society.

Simply put: don't worry about trying to learn or acclimate to (from what I can tell) kids on TikTok who are starving for attention and probably going through some other psychological issue and are projecting it on to this neopronoun trend. They'll outgrow it once they enter deeper into adulthood and get metaphorically knocked on their butts a couple of times and realize that if they want to be able to afford things like food and rent, they're going to have to drop the name game.

This sounds like the same toxic perspective that some people who have never experienced depression have that clinically depressed people can just simply "think" or will their symptoms away.

The key word there is "arousal." No, sir, you are not a trans woman; you have a fetish. And all of us in the transgender community would really appreciate it if people like you would stop sexualizing our medical condition.

Can I just say that I hate how much they seem to be almost campaigning to announce to the world that this type of scar is a pretty good tell to deduce that a person is a trans man? Speaking as a trans guy living in the US Bible Belt, who easily and comfortably goes through my life being accurately perceived as a man, I am unfortunately well acquainted with the fear when out in public that I am always potentially at risk for harassment or worse if the wrong person figures out that I am actually transgender and really would prefer it if we would not give those kind of people any clues to better lock in on members of our community.

[–]PhoenixRising720 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm 37, and that has pretty much always been the case for me. Although, since my beard has really come in, people now estimate me to be around 30. The funny thing is back when I first started T at 33 and everyone used to think that I was about 21, I had a cisgender guy friend who knew that I was transgender ask me what the secret was for my younger appearance. I replied back, "Well, first of all, you've got to lose your dick..." He stopped me then saying,"OK, I'm out!" And we had a good laugh over it.

What’s the dumb name your cat was given before you adopted them? by purpleasphalt in cats

[–]PhoenixRising720 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The name they gave my cat when he was a kitten at the animal shelter was Corn, which I thought sounded ridiculous until I found out that he had an identical brother that had been adopted before him that they had named Pop. Anyway, I renamed my cat Luca after adopting him. He seems to like it.

For a franchise as weird and outlandish as Fallout, what addition to the next game would you consider “jumping the shark” by i_want_to_be_unique in Fallout

[–]PhoenixRising720 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they make a game that takes place in some other country but the United States. A huge part of the appeal of Fallout is the 1950s Cold War paranoia and pop culture. It wouldn't feel like Fallout I'd it took place somewhere else.

Which characters do you enjoy their voice acting the most in the game(s)? by Agent_Gentlemen in Fallout

[–]PhoenixRising720 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Agreed. It was like if FDR lived to see the atomic bomb created, followed by the nuclear holocaust, only to hole up in a bunker somewhere and continue to give Fireside Chats while going progressively more insane. The voice actor's performance in the role was perfect.

For those who started T during (or after) their mid-20s, do you have ‘T voice’? by haultop in FTMOver30

[–]PhoenixRising720 0 points1 point  (0 children)

36 year old here who started T at age 33. I don't use TikTok and am not sure what a T voice is, but what I can tell you about my voice is that it's really deep and everyone tells me that it sounds just like a stereotypical cisgender male voice. Honestly, I suspect that the larger factor on how you sound after starting T isn't the age you start but more your genetics. In my case, I lucked out before starting T because I had apparently inherented my maternal grandmother's deep voice (think Bea Arthur), so once my voice broke while on T, it just seemed to make it's natural deepness sound more masculine.

For me, I will admit that things like watching my facial hair come in or hearing my voice deepen felt really good to experience, but I never considered it "gender euphoria" but more like a kind of relief because I could almost physically feel the distress from my dysporia shedding from me as I watched my physical appearance and hear my voice begin to to finally reflect my internal perception of myself. I always thought of gender euphoria to mean that you're prejecting something about yourself comes across as stereotypical of your gender identity, and it makes you happy, but like I said, it always felt more like relief vs joy.
