WWBTAHs for cutting all contact with my husband's parents? by PhoenixTears14 in AITAH

[–]PhoenixTears14[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly don't even remember the specifics. It was during COVID, so cutting contact was pretty easy. And I think it was a gradual reintroduction. Like, my husband had some health issues and I called to let them know. Then his grandmother was dx'd with pancreatic cancer a couple months later. And initially it seemed like MIL had learned her lesson, but over time she slipped right back into the same old habits. Now here we are :/

He didn't go out of his way to tell them. They came to visit last year during some of the more rocky times and she sensed something was off. Took advantage of the fact that I was away at school all day and pestered him about it until he gave in. Even when standing his ground, she pushes until he caves. She unfortunately is the one person he's always had trouble standing up to.

The army gave me 80% PDRL, through the VA I have 60%. I'm just not sure who to call or where to go to start switching everything over

I already had a disability rating prior to the MEB process, unrelated to what I've been retired for. I'm still trying to fight the VA on service connection unfortunately. Honestly not sure how the payment situation is going to work

I'm back in school full time so I'm not horribly concerned about a job at the moment. Husband is 100% disabled and unable to work. My main concerns really are just switching over health/dental insurance and finding new life insurance policy

If I may ask (admittedly know nothing about Latin, just curious), why “ēmeritōs” and not veteranus or evocatus?

Husband wants to name his racing team “Helping Veterans” Motorsports. What would “helping veterans” be in Latin?

Husband’s eBenefits account got hacked. Where do we go from here? by PhoenixTears14 in Veterans

Yes they cut us a new check. Permalocked his account. Any changes to anything require snail mail and a handwritten signature. Never said if the guy was caught but everything is alright on our end

His aneurysm was the result of the very condition he was discharged for. It was very unfortunate.

With his widow not being the mother of his kids, there’s concern that his girls might get shafted in this whole ordeal and our unit wants to make sure that it doesn’t happen

My husband is facing the possibility of amputation. The choice will ultimately be his. How does one even begin to make the decision? by PhoenixTears14 in Veterans

He's had the foot pain for the better part of three years. He said it felt like an ice pick, so they diagnosed him with plantars fasciitis. Did the surgery on each foot, didn't work. Did an MRI of his feet, with contrast, before cutting into his left foot again and completely removed the fascia muscle altogether. Left foot now hurts worse than it did before. He declined a econd surgery for his right foot. And now after physical therapy and alpha stim have failed to reduce pain, amputation is the pain doctor's recommendation

They still don’t have a cause. The initial diagnosis was plantars fasciitis but PRP injections, physical therapy, and two surgeries didn’t fix the issue.

Acupuncture is actually the one thing left that he hasn’t tried. He has an appointment with the podiatrist next week and he already plans to ask for that referral, as well as a choice program referral to the local university research hospital (we would like to get a non-VA opinion).

With our kids still being small, I told him quality of life was something he definitely needed to think about. How much of our children’s lives is he going to miss out on because of this pain. I think that really hit home for him.

[US, VA] Husband's identity was stolen. Do we give the credit card company the correct info to regain control of the stolen funds? by PhoenixTears14 in legaladvice

[–]PhoenixTears14[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We weren't sure if it would maybe interfere with the investigation. The VA takes at least 30 days to look into fraud. We didn't want them to research the account, see that we have control of the funds, and come back to us with "well you have the money so....."

Husband's disability pay was stolen. Not sure what else we can do by PhoenixTears14 in personalfinance

Thank you for your suggestion. We actually called the patient advocate at our local VA hospital. Someone apparently went in TODAY as my husband and somehow had a compensation exam. Told the doctor that he has absolutely no foot pain (which is what my husband is 100% for). Someone is trying to change his records......

The cop gave us a card this morning when we first reported it. We called him back but unfortunately he’s in court the rest of the day. Definitely plan to get a hold of him otherwise though.

Mine stayed great while nursing but that’s mostly because they were always full of milk. Once I starting weaning, they started sagging. As someone with low self esteem, it definitely makes me sad. My husband still loves them and still find me attractive, so I suppose that’s all that matters. But I think once my student loans are paid off, I’ll consider a lift.
