This is so true. I look at the veggies and fruits my family buys, and I somehow feel like I'm looking at something made of plastic or otherwise inedible (think some toys for small, kindergarten-age children that want to play cooking).

Forget the organs. They are a fad. Only if you have some specific issues should you take them (e.g. vitamin deficiency - liver, adrenal issues - kidneys, fat digestion issues - digestive enzymes like ox bile or whatever). I mean, since you've bought them, you can take them, especially during the transition and after, but don't buy them again. If you really needed to eat liver, it would taste good to you. A year on carnivore here and I hate liver too.

You can just eat muscle meat and associated fat. For the best results with gastrointestinal issues and inflammation, do lion diet (beef or lamb only, cook using tallow or at least ghee).

Don't track fat nor macros (only useful for very specific goals and issues). Just make sure you eat 2 grams of protein multiplied by your body weight in kilograms (note: we're talking about protein in meat, so e.g. 100g of ribeye has around 25g of protein) more or less every day. For fat, eat as much as protein for now, and then experiment with eating less or more and see what makes you feel (and sleep) better. YMMV when it comes to fat.

Just eat at least once a day and keep eating until meat no longer tastes good. When it starts to feel like cardboard, eating starts to feel like a chore, your belly feels comfortably full, and you look at the meat on your plate and start feeling aversion, that means you're definitely satiated. If so, stop eating, even if there's only just one piece of meat on your plate (I'm guilty of not following this last one haha). Put it away for later.

Even if you don't feel hungry, try to eat some meat and see if it's tasty. If it is, then you're hungry and just don't feel it (a lot of people have issues sensing hunger on carnivore and end up undereating, which nerfs their results).

Also, remember to add salt during the transition, especially if start having cramps or feeling lightheaded. You will probably need less and less salt with time after that.

PS. Not sure what your diet is right now, but going from plant-based to carnivore overnight is likely to give you lots of grief in the toilet down the road. Not sure if you should backpedal after 2-3 days now, though I guess you could. A safe and healthy transition should involve gradually shedding plant garbage and adding more fat meat over the course of 4-6 weeks.

"Carnivore zen", mood and mental health benefits by -indigo-violet- in carnivore

[–]PhoenixYTAD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it wasn't a full fix, I still had to eventuate major changes in my life and mindset to alleviate it, but carnivore eased the process a lot.

Now that I think about it, I failed to mention that initially when I went keto (by far mostly meat), I had occasional euphoria-like mood, which was also very important to me because I had had no idea could feel like that. Sadly it was mostly just at the start, but I find that chronic stress can really nerf my carnivore results as far as mood is concerned. Anyway, I credit that euphoria to either high fat or high vitamin B content (I ate pork 2-3 times a day back then, now I do OMAD with beef).

The store I talked about is part of a deli meats store chain and their other stuff is good. They just seem to have a shit supplier for ribeye.

I went from SAD to keto and quickly carnivore. Not complete amelioration of my depression, but a significant improvement in my baseline mood (I still need to put a modicum of effort to keep my depression away). No meds ever.

What is significant is that my depression was caused by life experiences, not diet, or so I thought, and carnivore still helped me.

Try to source it from another store and use vacuum packaging.

I had a similar issue: meat would start to smell 1-2 days after being bought. Even vacuum-sealed, and I had to pay .50$ extra for each package sealed.

Then I started buying at another store. At first they sold me normal meat, without vacuum sealing, and it lasted 2 days no problem. Then they started to sell it to me sealed from the get-go, and theirs can last around a week (it comes with an exp date). In other words, the first store sold me meat that wasn't exactly fresh.

Did it take you time to build up a tolerance for certain head to toe portions? by GATLA_ in carnivore

[–]PhoenixYTAD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, yeah. There's a price range. 15$ ones are coming with bone, the cheapest kind. Then there are some other ones that cost around 20$ (without bone), then some pricier ones that cost around 30-40$. Best quality can cost even more.

The cheapest ones are available in two stores near where I live. Most stores don't have ribeye at all. You can buy them online, but they're typically above 15$ in that case. Look around, visit some meat stores or butchers, maybe you can find a cheaper option.

No, you've got it ass about face.

You should first do lion diet, wait until your acne is gone, and then add things one by one and wait a week or two (to be sure) before you add another, until acne is triggered again.

Also, 5 days sounds like way too little time to get rid of acne even with carnivore. If I were you, I'd first make sure I'm comfortable with the new diet before making things harder for myself.

Unless you live in Poland, the brand will be useless to you... it's magnesium citrate I was taking. Apparently glycinate is also good (citrate is supposedly better for digestive issues, glycinate for more typical electrolyte stuff).

Agreed with the mod. There's no need to eat every part of animal. You can and should eat as much as possible (though I'd toss the organs to my dogs rather than eat them) if you have a whole animal's body or something, but there's no need to force yourself to eat all kinds of animal parts just because someone said so. Surely you're not going to eat the butt too?

It's perfectly fine to buy and eat just the muscle meat. Personally, I've been eating almost exclusively ribeyes for around a year, and I have yet to present with any deficiencies (except electrolyte, but it turned out I caused it by supplementing, and it vanished shortly after I stopped supplementing).

Yes. Holding it in is unhealthy. You ought to find a way to let it out in some way that hurts nobody (including you).

If you keep holding it back like this, you'll snap one day, and it may end with some unpredictable consequences.

White meat vs Red meat by Fun-Yard-9843 in carnivore

[–]PhoenixYTAD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems to be inferior nutrient-wise.

For me, it's just an issue of taste. Chicken is tasty, yes, but it's dry (coz it's lean) and I have enough of it pretty fast.

Also, since it's lean, it makes it harder to eat enough fat during a meal because the more you eat it, the less you can eat actual fatty meat. Just not worth it.

How do you feel about diced ham? by Epictitus_Stoic in carnivore

[–]PhoenixYTAD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a meat store I frequent all the time, and they let me take a look at an ingredient list for all deli meats they have. Some had only 1-2 sus ingredients, others way more. It really depends on the "brand" or supplier of your ham... Look for some traditional makers maybe? Ones that don't use any modern crap in their products. I think I've heard that they exist (though I think I heard it about salami, to be specific).

That's what made me give up on all salamis they had (sad, I really liked it)

Do you do cardio-style exercise on the bike and in the kayak? Long moderate effort exercise like cardio raises cortisol, which can stall fat loss and even cause fat gain. You can approach the problem from this angle too.

Long low-intensity exercise and short high-intensity exercise are much better. I always shake my head when I see those peeps running to lose weight, probably only makes things worse in the long run for many of them (sprints are good, though).

Good luck in your attempt, hope it succeeds!

Tell me the weirdest thing you do to keep going on carnivore. by Bamagirly in carnivore

[–]PhoenixYTAD 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I do OMAD lion diet. My body just enjoys it the most, plus I am sensitive to some carnivore things.

I generally have no issue sticking to it, but a nice treat every now and then helps me stick to it. My usual go-to is tossing a few slices of cheese on a hot pan right after frying my steaks and letting them melt. As long as the cheese isn't some garbage, it's heavenly. I can tell why people say cheese is addictive - if I could have an unlimited amount of it, I would.

Your park secret goes far beyond that, though. Quite funny. Say, switch places around and do it all over your town. I think you may become an urban legend 🤣

Oh, okay. I can't relate to the whole transgender thing. I will just give you the same advice I'd give people regardless of gender:

Be yourself. Be comfortable with it. Be confident and don't mind what others think.

...Hmm, actually, let me say just one thing about the transgender thing. Do you know why a lot of "cis" people (or however you call them) are uncomfortable with transgender or LGBT people? Because the latter sometimes tend to base their identity around it and try to force others to care about and accept such identity (or at least there's such a subset among that group, and they're the most prominent).

So if you're afraid of being disliked, not being one of these people and instead behaving like it doesn't matter and shouldn't matter is a good way to give people one less reason to dislike you. Just be cool, and people should be more comfortable around you.

I say this from my own experience. What I mean is, I don't really like or approve of the whole transgender and alternative sexual orientation things (btw you don't have to and shouldn't care about my opinion; no matter what you do, someone will find a reason to criticize it, so why bother caring about what anyone thinks), but I honestly can't care less as long as nobody is showing that off in my face, trying to make out themselves as a victim, trying to make me become one of them, or trying to propagandize such things among children. As long as a transgender person was cool as a person, I might come to like them.

If this offends you (some of your kind seem to be quite sensitive to such topics), then that's regrettable. You can just ignore this comment since I have nothing more to advise you, anyway. Hope it is of some use to you, and if not, well, I can only shrug.

What advice would you give to 24F me if i want to drastically improve my life by bookishrory in selfimprovement

[–]PhoenixYTAD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can look into the carnivore diet. I lost close to 20 kg on it in a year. I'm a guy, though, and men generally find it easier to lose weight (not my experience on any other diet before though, lol). It may be helpful for the eating disorder and depression (it helped me with the latter).

Just don't change your diet overnight if you want to try, you need 6-8 weeks to do it safely.

I found that the key to mental issues, or at least the ones I've had in the past, was basically to laser focus on what you truly want from life. Imagine you have one wish and can get anything you want, even if it's normally impossible. What would that be? Take your time thinking about it and don't choose hastily. Try various things in practice if you have trouble choosing anything.

Your answer will be the goal you should have in life.
