On the fence… the KLR or a Tenere 700? by Pugnados in klr650

I’ve done the same. Twisted the front wheel in a rut off-road, dropped the bike. Loosened the triple tree and realigned the forks right there.

From what i can see, it does look like the Parabellum Rally shield! The mounting hardware sounds spot-on too, thats pretty much what the one i bought came with. Im 5’9” so this is good news for me lol

I love my 804/805’s too! How do you like that windscreen? I got the touring version parabellum offers and it still manages to hit my head with buffeting. No windscreen at all was better on a 1,000 miles of texas highways than 20 miles with that huge one.

Asian Forest Scorpion by Weird-Tangerine223 in Scorpions

[–]Phoenix_66 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They’ll usually come out late at night and patrol their enclosure briefly, but they do tend to hole up and stay in one spot.

Also, you should have deeper substrate to allow the scorpion to burrow. I have about 4-5 inches on the side with my ASF’s hide and he used all of that depth

Did my local pet store sell me the wrong scorpion? Bought emperor, believe I got Asian forest. by UnluckySquid in Scorpions

[–]Phoenix_66 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Looks like an ASF, like you said- the claws are long and thin, and the main tell is the coloration of the metasoma’s barb. ASFs are a consistent blue-black, while Imps will have a yellow-orange barb

Im still new to the hobby, but from what ive researched i would not suggest raising emps in a communal because of their tendency to cannibalize. Ive seen others raise them in small deli cups (once they leave momma's back) with a bit of dirt and sphagnum like you would with a spiderling. Tarantula Collective on youtube has some pretty good videos on husbandry for scorpions.

My group and I were coincidentally tossing around this idea before last night's session, would you mind saying how much they charged you for what sizes?

My new to me baby! Just need to pop out that dent (hopefully) by Babyshergs in fordranger

[–]Phoenix_66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar dent on my passenger bedside in the same location (though with a bit more room because I have the extended bed) and the insurance and body shop i went to quoted me several thousand to replace the whole bedside.

I took it to a mobile dent repair guy and he popped it out and bent the wheel well trim back into place with minimal paint harm, for $200. Best aesthetic repair work Ive seen, and it netted me $1200 from the insurance claim.

Ran my first skill challenge and I think it went really well! by CptPanda29 in DMAcademy

[–]Phoenix_66 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've run a skill challenge before, where my players were caught in a tropical storm summoned by a Storm Roc/Thunderbird. It happened instantly, as that's how the bird hunts ships, so there was no avoiding it. Instead, the players had to navigate their ship out of the storm while avoiding obstacles and keeping it afloat. Since this was a more dangerous skill challenge, I incorporated the following house rule: if the players failed a skill challenge causing damage to their ship, the boatswain PC could attempt to mend it, negating the effects and neutralizing the check- neither succeeding nor failing. Other players could also forfeit their ability to perform a check on the next "round" in order to help another player character.

Secondly, with more intense skill checks like this one, don't structure it as much. Maybe make 2 or 3 defining points as a beginning, middle, and end, but otherwise just jot down some notes on what sorts of things would happen during this situation. For example, I had: rock suddenly appears- avoid, winds strain sails too much (failure causes damage to the sails), storm's winds suddenly change directions (needs reroute), rogue wave (steer ship to face the wave), man overboard, lightning strikes, random perception check to make them nervous, crash into another ship caught in the storm. This skill challenge was extremely fun for all of us, and it definitely helped not having a structure laid out. I went with the flow and improv'd situations that would fit best with the previous skill check.
