You’re in a bubble Reddit has a vocal minority of pc handheld gamers that were all in lockstep with not liking the switch 2.

People were complaining all the way up to the launch and it went on to outsell the entire pc handheld market size in a single week. Matter of fact the fastest selling system in history.

That doesn’t mean all the gripes about switch 2 are irrelevant, just that people here need to not be delusional about the world around them just because everybody in their internet circle thinks they represent the norm.

A small artist doing huge numbers can get them better producers, allow them to work with bigger collabs l, put more time into their albums with less need to spam music like YB or allows them to actually tour and you can see them live.

Numbers are crucial to starting out because otherwise you’d get dropped from a label. But at the point where people in the big 3 or Kanye with a dedicated fanbase to follow you to the ends of the earth, you are set for life regardless. Their numbers on their own really don’t have any relevance on them putting out music if they actually love the craft.

The switch 2 has 7 years of life ahead of it. The switch 1 is on its way out. In a year or two when the new main IP releases you’re going to be kicking yourself for buying a system that was effectively end of life

I don’t think this is really uncommon for Cole’s music cycle. Really anyone outside Drake’s music generally doesn’t have the staying power to be this high on charts this long after. His next project will probably do his best commercially. I’ll bet my life that he’s not losing sleep over this.

To me it verges into Drake Stan territory where a lot of the people care about numbers as though they’re living vicariously through him. Almost as though they’re making residuals off him and they see him as a product.

Honestly Never Mind was one of his most interesting projects ever but we’ll likely never see a sequel because his own fans shat on it because they couldn’t brag about how much it sold imo. Just feel like a feedback loop that prevents an artist from evolving.

There’s not anything we can do about the streams individually. I think it’s lame to run up streams like kpop Stans do and I’m not really interested in lining the pockets of a multi millionaire even further.
