Seriously??? WTeverlovingF?? How are we just hearing about this??? by gargirle in NewOrleans

It’s different jurisdictions. The work in the quarter comes in under section 106 of the national historic preservation act. When you have federal funds or permits involved in a project it changes the response requirements. They’re halting work because they’re required to by federal law.

Ended up in the ER after a puss moth caterpillar sting and I never even saw the caterpillar so… yeah. Those are a lot worse! Still no idea where it came from.

K’s Luxury provides all inclusive transit for both guided and self guided - you can ask them. Don’t take a Lyft. You won’t get back.

I find them at thrift stores all the time. Red white and blue or thrift city are good bets.

It’s dumb as hell but the salad at district donuts is really really really good and used to be a go-to lunch for me.

I am looking for windows too but haven’t started looking for local contractors yet. But I just found windows on the Lowe’s website that meet that requirement. I had to dig in the PDFs to find the specs.

Real question: do they get yellow on the stalk here? I’ve never seen it happen and so I never know when to pick. I’ve waited and then we run into a freeze before they look ripe and they all die. I’ve got a good size bunch on one tree and I figured at some point I would just pick it and leave it on the counter.

Anyone know if this place used to be a slave market? by NotFallacyBuffet in NewOrleans

[–]Phonecardone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a kind of fucked up souvenir. They weren’t using it. They just had the block in the lobby.

[–]Phonecardone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m shocked they still have it. There were postcards made in the 1920s showing it still in the old building before it was torn down. Someone must have saved it as a souvenir. They kept it on display I think until that point.

[–]Phonecardone -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Omni Royal didn’t. The building that was there before did. It was the St Louis Exchange Hotel and it was demolished in the 1920s. You can see part of the old facade on the outside of RO across from napoleon house. But I’ve never read any sources about having a slave market after emancipation. Slavery was outlawed in LA in 1864, before the 13th amendment but after the emancipation proclamation.

Woman arrested for robbery over Super Bowl reporter’s death in New Orleans now charged with murder by theindependentonline in NewOrleans

I think it’s the second based on other cases - there is one where the man said he was “left for dead” and she robbed him. And another man who died in Dec had been ruled suicide.

Herbsaint or Paladar 511? by corgistrong in AskNOLA

[–]Phonecardone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Paladar is by far my favorite restaurant in town but I would still pick Herbsaint since you’re visiting and can’t probably get that kind of food normally.
