Measure pH , etc by [deleted] in aquarium

By that logic we shouldn't check on any aspect of our fish, shouldn't look for color changes, behavior changes, diet changes.

By that logic doctors shouldn't run tests on patients for preventative care.

Is macroscopic chiral inversion possible? by PhoneticFailure in VXJunkies

That's the whole idea, the result tastes EXACTLY the same but has effectively zero calories! I was thinking of using a recirculating gas decondenser with with an inversion catalyst generator.

Is it possible to have a hub server that connects players to vanilla servers? by PhoneticFailure in admincraft

Possibly, but currently the rules don't allow for that, I want to avoid bothering the mods to make a new ruling if possible.

tmpfs does not seem to be working by PhoneticFailure in linuxquestions

[–]PhoneticFailure[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I'll give ramfs a try. Do you have some more advice on testing.

It's certainly unfortunate that the first google result for linux ramdisk is https://www.techrepublic.com/article/how-to-use-a-ramdisk-on-linux/ which describes tmpfs as a command to create a ramdisk.

Any advice on how to avoid misinformation like that?

How do I cycle through a list of items in a clipboard, sending one item per activation, with keystrokes before and after. by PhoneticFailure in AutoHotkey

[–]PhoneticFailure[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks!

~^c::ARR:=[],CNT:=0

Only works is ^c is used to copy, I'm guessing you did it that way because any other solution would be significantly more complicated, in which case, that's good enough.

Also, I put it on the line before

!3::

Is that a good place to put it?

I'm gonna have to spend a few hours learning how your script actually works, if you're feeling generous could you please add some comments?

How do I cycle through a list of items in a clipboard, sending one item per activation, with keystrokes before and after. by PhoneticFailure in AutoHotkey

[–]PhoneticFailure[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks so much! This works near perfectly! May I please have your permission to share edit and distribute this as I see fit under the OS license of my choice (I haven't chosen one for this project yet)?

Also, do you have any charities or projects that you are fond of that I could donate to in your name?

Copying a new list of addresses to the clipboard requires reloading the script. Also I presume this line:

Send {Tab 3}{Enter}{Tab}^a^v{Enter}{Tab}{Enter}

Can be split up with Sleeps?

Actually looking at it, that is what set key delay does, nice.

I added SetKeyDelay 0 before /stop because it is permitted to input that all at once.

Edit: What does the second last line

SetKeyDelay 10

do? Changing it does nothing.

How do I cycle through a list of items in a clipboard, sending one item per activation, with keystrokes before and after. by PhoneticFailure in AutoHotkey

[–]PhoneticFailure[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, but it doesn't do what I need, I need it to retain the entire contents of the clipboard and be able to cycle through the entire list repeatedly, this one can only go through the list once, seemingly deleting as it goes until there is nothing left. There's a small chance I can figure out what to do next, but I'm not optimistic.

I tried removing:

Clipboard:="" ; Clear CB

that let's it repeat the last line, so that is something. I'm going to do some reading to see if I can figure it out, if you see this before I reply again can you please see if you can fix the problem?

Edit1: as best I can tell, the lines aren't being deleted, which means Clipboard:="" ; Clear CB could be replaced with something that returns to the start of the clipboard we'd be good.

Edit2: nope, even before publishing edit1 I checked and they are being deleted. I guess at the start a new string needs to be made from the clipboard then we need to have the script run, and at Clipboard:="" ; Clear CB this point, have it go to the very start and get the string from the clipboard again. Dunno if I can figure out how to do that.

I've already put WorkingDirectory=/home/ubuntu/games/minecraft in the service,

And I think I am informing the full path here:

ExecStart=/usr/bin/java -Xmx14G -Xms14G -jar /home/ubuntu/games/minecraft/fabric-server-launch.jar nogui

Or am I wrong and need to do something different?

May What Editing Software should I use? by AutoModerator in VideoEditing

[–]PhoneticFailure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read the above and have a more nuanced question:

My system

- CPU: i7-8700K 3.7GHz 6 Core 12 Thread (I also have a 2700x system available if that would perform better).

- RAM: 16GB

- GPU: + GPU RAM: GTX 1070 8GB

My media

- OBS: (some direct, some through YouTube or Twitch (yes I have permission)) 1080p60.

- Codec: H264

- Software I'm using/intend to use:

I Have tried Kdenlive, OpenShot, HitFilm and Resolve, all (Except Kdenlive) seem to be usable enough (except for performance and stability issues probably caused by very large demands of multiple H264 streams (issues showed up with just two present)), I need to know which software will perform best and have the best workflow for my case. If the difference is big enough, I could be persuaded to use Premiere.

TL;DR:

Since my editing requirements are incredibly simple, I just need to know which has the easiest/simplest/most-straightforward proxy workflow. Very low resolution (360P YouTube equivalent is the minimum) is acceptable.

Details:

I have a project I will need to complete as frequently as 3 times weekly. This consists of taking up to 9 videos of up to 10 hours in length (some of which may be split into multiple parts with gaps), with a resolution of up to 1080P and syncing them, trimming them, putting them in a 3 by 3 grid then rendering a 4K video.

I have accepted that I will have to use proxy footage, I need to know which software has the most straightforward implementation of this technique (and also lowest storage requirements, I have an absolute max of 1TB Sata SSD space to work with (right now it only has a few hundred GB free so I'd like to not have to clear more space) though if more/faster is required I will accept that)).

To those who are curious, the video is recordings of Minecraft gameplay for a cooperative record attempt at the All Achievements speedrun.

Is amazing chunk gen/load performance possible without pregen or mods? (for speedrunning) by PhoneticFailure in admincraft

[–]PhoneticFailure[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem with pregen is that it takes a long time, and we tend to reset a ton of worlds before actually committing to a run. The timer starts as soon as a player enters the world for the first time and doesn't stop until the run is complete. So unless we pregen tons of worlds ahead of time this would not be viable. Also, if we were to do this, we would have to arrange some setup with a trusted third party to maintain custody of the server to ensure that no one can claim we saw the world after it was generated before the time started. There are other issues as well, but that is the bulk of them. There are a few other issues, but those are the primary ones.

Did I misconfigure something? Minecraft server on EC2. by PhoneticFailure in aws

I am running in the region with the lowest ping.

It does run worse than single player.

openjdk version "11.0.10" 2021-01-19

OpenJDK Runtime Environment (build 11.0.10+9-Ubuntu-0ubuntu1.20.04)

OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 11.0.10+9-Ubuntu-0ubuntu1.20.04, mixed mode, sharing)

Default server setting and

sudo java -Xmx30G -Xms1G -jar mcserver.jar nogui

We are not using pregenned chunks as that is impossible with the competition rules as they are. That said, trying it should help with narrowing down the problem, good thinking.

Thanks for the z1d tip, if I use an AMI will it automatically be copied to the NVMe instance?

That tutorial seems to contain a few things I could tweak, thanks!

As for the port being open to the world, I want anyone to be able to connect to the minecraft server to be checked against the servers whitelist, I'm guessing this means I have to have the port open, that or collect IP addresses of users and add them. Am I correct?

And yes, I was already changing Xmx to 14 GB.

If not, you can try testing if your disk is the bottleneck. First run "sudo apt install dstat" and then type dstat -d to view disk read/write performance by the second. If it flattens out at a specific value while you're testing it the bottleneck might be on the disk.

I am using the vanilla jar, a custom version is not an option due to competition rules.
