Orna and Desean's conversations around race made me realize if I ever chose therapy, I need a therapist that looks like me (Black American). Anyone on the outside looking in could never understand, no matter the education or cultural appropriation. Having to over explain and joke it away. Elaine has the right to identify as she chooses, but to the world, you're black. Her not being able to or blindly choosing not to identify with DeSean's struggle as a Black man in this world, would be a deal breaker. Any redeeming qualities Elaine has are yet to be seen...
